Quantcast Vegetarian Starcelebrity and vegetarian (120)

Both Andy Dick and Russell Brand aren’t exactly known for their choir boy behaviors. Andy’s had his share of drugs, arrests and was thrown off stage on Jimmy Kimmel Live when he couldn’t stop touching Ivanka Trump.

Russell shares Andy’s drug history, has bragged to the pubic about having relations with more than 80 women in one month and was forced to resigned from the BBC after making prank phone calls to actor Jonathan Sachs’ home, bragging about “shagging” his granddaughter.

That didn’t stop Russell from making the front page of a Vegetarian Starter Kit and Dick’s still up to his antics, dressing as Ronald McDonald and protesting McDonald’s method of killing chickens.

They can’t be that bad, huh? So between the two naughty boys, who would you rather do…

Eddie Lama was a construction worker from New York who couldn’t have cared 2 cents about animals.

Then, he met a cat and fell in love.

Now, he’s a passionate advocate for animals and his story can be seen in The Witness, an award winning documentary that will air this Sunday, June 28 at 10 pm and July 26 at 8 pm on various Florida television stations, including WEDU+ Channel 3.4, Comcast Channel 203, Verizon Fios Channel 476, and Bright House Channel 605.

Vegan and animal rights activist Alicia Silverstone said, “Eddie’s story is about changing your life, taking a stand for those who can’t and being true to what is right—whether it’s on behalf of animals or any other cause. It’s a call to all of us to do something, to make a difference. In a cynical world, that is something we can’t be reminded of enough.”

Emily Deschanel Asks Rep. Waxman To Help Protect Great Apes

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, June 24th, 2009 in Actresses, Animal Issues.

Monte Carlo Television Festival 2009 Closing Ceremony

Author Rory Freedman said she admires Emily Deschanel, saying, “Her life is busy, her schedule’s busy but she always, always, always makes time for the animals.”

Emily is keeping up that reputation and has written to California congressman Rep. Henry Waxman urging him to cosponsor the Town-Reichart Great Ape Protection Act, which would phase out “invasive scientific research” on chimpanzees and release federally owned apes to chimpanzee sanctuaries.

The number of apes that would be released to sanctuaries is around 500.

Emily writes, “The Great Ape Protection Act is the best chance we have to ease their pain and suffering.”

“They could form bonds with other chimpanzees, bask in the sunlight, and feel the grass and the earth. That’s the least we can do for chimpanzees, our species’ closest living relatives.”

Alicia Silverstone Vegetarian Ad Targets El Paso, Texas

After Men’s Fitness magazine named El Paso, Texas as one of the fattest cities, PETA decided to do some “target advertising” and is showing an Alicia Silverstone vegetarian PSA in a TV ad campaign in the city.

You know, the one where Alicia’s emerging from the swimming pool, au naturel.

“I’m Alicia Silverstone, and I’m a vegetarian,” Silverstone says and goes on to explain how the diet has changed her life and given her more energy.

The ad is currently airing in El Paso this week on KVIA-TV (ABC).

“The Sun City’s love affair with meat is making its residents fat — and could literally be killing them,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “If the good people of El Paso want to shed their ‘saddlebags’ and get on the road to good health, the best thing that they can do is go vegetarian.”

While El Paso is one of the fattest cities on the Men’s Fitness list, the number one spot went to Miami, Florida. Salt Lake City, Utah took the fittest.

Cloris Leachman Trades Bacon For Lots Of Salt And Dressing

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, June 24th, 2009 in Actresses.

88th Annual Installation & Awards Luncheon

Cloris Leachman and Betty White were having lunch, when Cloris, a longtime vegetarian, ordered a salad, asking the waiter to hold the bacon.

Apparently Betty’s not into dressing, but Cloris put more than enough on her salad to make up for Betty and all their grandchildren combined. Cloris also likes it salty, as USA Today wrote:

Leachman not only drenches her food in dressing, she asks for extra while shaking on disturbing amounts of salt and pepper.

We know how seemingly “healthy” foods can be made unhealthy by all the creams, sauces, and extra condiments placed on them. A bottle of salad dressing and a shaker of salt are just a few ways a good for you salad can turn bad.

Sure, Cloris could have been using fat-free dressing.  But other spices like pepper, garlic, and onion can add flavor to any food without the added sodium from salt.

Cloris’ salad is reminiscent of the vegetarian who eats only cheese sandwiches with gobs of mayo.

Maybe the lady who advocates putting down the cola and drinking juice should rethink her own habits.

Cloris has done more than her share of shaking on Dancing With The Stars. She doesn’t need to shake the salt shaker so much.
