Pamela Anderson Richie Rich “A*Muse”: New Zealand Fashion Week

Written by Vegetarian Star on Saturday, September 12th, 2009 in Actresses, Fashion.

Pamela Anderson is the surprise runway celebrity in Richie Richs Blondes Have More Fun Fall/Winter 2009 Fashion Collection

Pamela Anderson will debut her animal and eco friendly clothing line, A*Muse, during New Zealand Fashion Week, September 22-25.

The designs she collaborated with Richie Rich were originally set to debut at New York’s Fashion Week from September 10-17, but Pamela set her sights on New Zealand for its green reputation.

Rich, who designed the Heatherette label, explained in more detail.

“Pamela is such an advocate for Peta [People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals],” Rich said. “I love animals. We wanted to produce a range using as many globally friendly fabrics as we could, in the spirit of being good to the world. That is part of the reason we want to kick it off in New Zealand, which is so lush and green. It goes with the vibe we are feeling. At the same time the Kiwi scene is fun and the line is fun.”

Rich originally admitted it was hard for him not to use fur in the collection.

Hopefully, with the guidance of Pamela, Rich now sees how easy it is to be chic and caring.

Dutch police have released Peter Janssen, otherwise known as the “vegan streaker.”

Janssen was arrested last week after police received a tip that he was planning to attack Queen Beatrix of Holland because she wears fur.

The 24 year old animal rights activists earned his named as the “vegan streaker” after he made a surprise appearance on a Dutch television show wearing only black briefs and anti-meat slogans painted on his body.

He was released after authorities determined they did not have sufficient evidence to keep him in custody.

A statement said: “The investigation by the national detectives unit has so far not yielded any evidence.”

Janssen is denying the allegations and says he plans to launch a lawsuit for wrongful arrest.

Queen Beatrix has been in the news about fur before when Pamela Anderson wrote a letter asking her to ban it from Holland.

Owain Yeoman, Veg Celebs Give Funniest Meat Eater Comments

Written by Vegetarian Star on Saturday, July 18th, 2009 in Actors, Actresses, Female Singers, Models.

BAFTA/LAs 2nd Annual British Comedy Festival

What’s the most ridiculous thing an omnivore ever asked you? Was it the “do you eat chicken?” question?

Philstar.com has compiled some information on several vegetarian celebrities, including why they went veg, favorite restaurants, frustrating moments as a vegetarian, etc.

Owain Yeoman, Geneva Cruz, Yasmien Kurdi, and Pamela Anderson are all profiled.

Here are a few highlights from the “Funniest Thing Ever Said To Me By Meat Eaters” question:

Owain Yeoman
“Someone once asked me if I wasn’t concerned that vegetarianism will “stunt my growth” and at 6’4” and 190 pounds, the last thing I am worried about is my growth being stunted!”

Pamela Anderson
“It’s pretty funny when a meat eater tells me that he or she is an environmentalist. The meat trade is the number one cause of global warming!”

Geneva Cruz
““WHY?!!!!” My answer is “Why not?!!” There.”

Yasmien Kurdi
“I can’t think of anything specific, but what I’ve told meat eaters is if they want to contract swine flu, bird flu, and all those other animal-borne diseases — or if they want to die an early death — then they should eat meat! Hahaha! I know it’s a bit harsh, but I like to be direct when talking about animal issues and I think this makes meat eaters seriously rethink their diet … though outwardly we laugh about it.”

Pamela Anderson recently took a trip to Montenegro to meet with the Atlas Group and discuss building a eco friendly spa and hotel in the country.

The hotel, if Pamela decides by next month to build, will contain all the elements of a green business, right down to serving organic and vegetarian food as much as possible.

If this seems like the exception to the rule, the vegetarian actress and sex symbol says it’s the norm for Montenegro.

“A country well versed and already committed to the ecological principles so important to me,” Pamela says as she introduces Montenegro.

“A country where local and organic farming already exists by default, rather than by design.”

That’s it. Give us a timeshare for a condo there!

Milo Ventimiglia, Kellie Pickler Sexiest Vegetarians Of The Year!

Omega & GQ Celebrate 40th Anniversary Of Moon Landing With Dr. Buzz Aldrin

Wow. Talk about calling a shot.

When we asked weeks ago if Milo Ventimiglia was the sexiest, fans across the nation answered our question with a resounding YES!

Milo was voted Sexiest Vegetarian of the Year in a contest held by PETA, along with his female crowned counterpart Kellie Pickler.

Milo does have an advantage, given the fact he was raised vegetarian since in utero. But Kellie made an honest effort to change her diet as an adult with a little help from fellow Idol alum and vegetarian Carrie Underwood and Pamela Anderson.

When Kellie found out she won, she had to do some googling to believe it!

On her Myspace blog, she wrote:

“On another note….I just found out that I was voted “Peta’s Sexiest Vegetarian!” How cool is that?!! Thank you so much for voting!! That was totally unexpected!! I was jumping up and down when I heard the news! I even googled it to make sure I wasn’t being punk’d! ha ha!! “

Did your favorite vegetarian star win? Should someone else be seated in the top spot?
