Kevin Bacon is edible. Even for the vegetarians. Even for the kosher vegetarians.

Dave Lefkow is one of the faux pork powers behind Bacon Salt, an imitation bacon flavor from J & D Foods, which has infused bacon flavor in mayonnaise, popcorn and other foods. Lefkow has created a bust of Kevin Bacon from the bits of Bacon Salt and the creation is being auctioned off on ebay to raise money for Ashley’s Team, a charity for children with cancer.

WASHINGTON - SEPTEMBER 17: Christine O'Donnell, Delaware's Republican nominee for U.S. Senate, on stage at the Values Voter Summit on September 17, 2010 in Washington, DC. The annual summit drew nearly two thousand people to advocate for conservative causes. (Photo by Brendan Hoffman/Getty Images)

Delaware Republican candidate for Senate Christine O’Donnell has made some controversial headlines in the news for her comments about topics such as sex, masturbation and now meat. Thankfully, the last term has never been grouped with the first two.

O’Donnell, who now is a conservative Christian, has an interview from 1999 with Bill Maher where she discusses the many different religions she tried before committing to Christianity. The only thing that kept O’Donnell from becoming Hare Krishna was the fact she didn’t want to become vegetarian.

Some transcript notes from the interview:

O’Donnell: “I was dabbling into every other kind of religion before I became a Christian.”

Maher: “You were a witch!”

O’Donnell: “I was! I was!”

Maher: “You were.”

O’Donnell: “I was dabbling in witchcraft. I’ve dabbled in Buddhism. I wanted to become a Hare Krishna but I didn’t want to become a vegetarian. And that is honestly the reason why – because I’m Italian, I love meatballs.”

Maher: “Boy, are you spiritual

Emily Deschanel‘s co-star on Bones’, David Boreanaz, was a guest at the ceremony and reception for the actress’ recent wedding. Boreanz said the food featured some lovely seitan imitating chicken, which lead to a hilarious discussion of vegan weddings (did she marry a man from Venus) and whether or not food was incorporated into the ceremony to make it vegan.

Deschanel managed to convince Boreanz to eat vegetarian at least once a week.

Moby At Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary Highlights (Video)

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, September 30th, 2010 in Animal Issues, Male Musicians, Male Singers, Videos.

A video on Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary features a talk with Moby, who recently performed an acoustic, benefit show on the grounds.

Moby says his favorite animals at the sanctuary are goats.

“They generally tend to have the most personality,” Moby said.

Growing up, some of Moby’s earliest memories were of him, pet rats, cats and dogs–all hanging around the bathtub. The turkey sitting next to him seems very interested in this story, but probably got a little offended that he wasn’t named a favorite.

For more information on the sanctuary, visit WoodstockSanctuary.org.

Thanks to @dakotalane for the tip!

NASHVILLE, TN - DECEMBER 02: Football fans eat food from the tailgate of their truck prior to the start of the NFL game between the Houston Texans and the Tennessee Titans on December 02, 2007 at LP Field in Nashville, Tennessee. Born and bred into American sporting culture the act of tailgating is a tradition practiced unlike anywhere else in the world. Tailgating by definition is the act of partying or picnicking around a vehicle in a car park prior to the start of a sporting event. At any major sporting event in the United States you will find die hard fans, all settling into car parks surrounding the stadium, hours before the event even begins. Tailgaters, young and old drink, play games, barbeque and party, rain, hail or snow and often in unusual places, just about anywhere it?s possible to park a car and setup a barbeque. What started as a small pre-game picnic held out of the back of a pickup truck has now evolved into a multibillion-dollar business, with participant numbers estimated at over 50 million over the course of a season. The tailgating industry has taken off, with thousands of websites devoted to tailgating, a magazine, a convention and even its own trade association. Specialized tailgating equipment such as trailers fully equipped with everything from full bar facilities, specially designed cooking areas, flat screen TV?s, toilets, satellite dishes and generators have also been introduced. Tailgating has become as much of a sport as the football games it was born around, so much so many fans turn up just to tailgate and never even see the inside of the stadium. Paula Deen Vegetable Brand Coming Soon

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, September 29th, 2010 in Business, Chefs, Food & Drink, Videos.

Paula Deen is working on her own line of produce. Amazingly, from current reports, the line doesn’t include vegetables wrapped in bacon, dipped in butter and doubled fried.

According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Deen is working with both farmers and food producers and hopes to have the brand out next year and describes it as a “dream solution for young mothers” because of the quality of the food.

The southern food celebrity chef is using her 4-year old grandson Jack as the guinea pig, and Deen says he is fanatical about the broccoli.

If you won’t eat her broccoli, maybe at least the family cat will.
