The old saying is eat dessert first and that’s what the creator of the Craz-E Burger had in mind.

Brace your arteries for this.

The Craz-E Burger is a 1,500 calorie donut burger.

A beef patty, bacon and cheese are stuffed between two grilled glazed donut halves.

This burger has been a top seller at The Big E Festival in Springfield, Massachusetts, where organizers say they were selling at least 1,000 per day.

We always like to prove we can vegify anything, but in this case, who would want to?

Oh, heck, let’s give it a try.

Grab yourself a Boca patty, Lightlife Bacon, your favorite slice of vegan cheese.

BabyCakes will take care of the vegan donut for you and it will even be gluten-free.

Watch the clip to see the Craz-E Burger being assembled.

Hilary Swank Cries Over Meat Diet

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, October 8th, 2009 in Actresses, Food & Drink, Not So Vegetarian.

Triumph Inspiration Awards '09 - Milan Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010

Hilary Swank is feeling a bit guilty because she feel she has to eat meat to stay healthy.

The actress abandoned her vegetarian diet a few years ago because she was losing weight.

She told Marie Claire magazine, “I just started withering away. I wasn’t getting enough vitamins or protein. (It was) very emotional.”

“I sat over my plate and cried. I really had to work through it. It still makes me emotional. I don’t know if you have ever looked into a cow’s eye, but it is so soulful. So I don’t like it – but it’s something I have to do.”

Boo hoo. (Just kidding, we really are sympathetic. A little.)

However, with a bank account like Hilary’s this Million Dollar Baby actress should have no problem investing in some one on one diet counseling and expertise and even hire her own personal chef to ensure she gets the high protein plant based nutrition she needs.

Beans, tofu, faux meats, whole grain pastas, even veg powder protein supplements…the list is endless.

Not to mention the successful triathletes that sustain themselves on not only a vegetarian, but vegan diet.

Hilary’s wasting away was probably due to the fact she wasn’t eating enough food-not eating vegetarian food.

Maybe some cow will look her in the eye-and then curse at her so she’ll wake up and realize there are other options.

Elizabeth Hurley Cured Meat Snack Time, Animal Hide Sexy Time

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, October 7th, 2009 in Actresses, Not So Vegetarian.

GQ Men Of The Year Awards at The Royal Opera House in London, UK

Elizabeth Hurley has never landed on most vegetarians’ favorite celebrity list.

Too many things keeping her from breaking in the top 10, like her organic “healthy” dinners containing meat and the Blackglama fur ads.

Hurley has admitted to liking cured meat like beef jerky. And sex on a sheepskin. Oh, we’re sorry, that was TMI-too much mammal information.

“It’s an excellent thing for anyone on the Atkins diet. I did a movie in South Africa with Ice Cube and it’s all I ate. I was very thin – 121lbs.”

If that’s not enough to make your hurl-ey, try envisioning Liz au naturel on an animal rug.

The actress admits to enjoying sex on sheepskin rugs by her fireplace.

“Next time you go to someone’s house in the country, be sure to check out if they have warm, possibly fluffy, rugs in front of their fire.

“No prizes for guessing why they’re there! I can also shyly confess to having two sheepskin rugs in front of all my fireplaces!”

Let’s just hope dear ol’ Liz doesn’t run out of breath during her, uh, vigorous activity.

Cured meats have been linked to increase chances of developing Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.

Jason Mraz Fish Taco Sins Revealed

Written by Vegetarian Star on Sunday, October 4th, 2009 in Food & Drink, Male Musicians, Male Singers, Not So Vegetarian.

Jason Mraz Performs On NBC's "Today"

So back when Jason Mraz called himself a vegan fishitarian, we wondered if Jason really did sneak some occasional fish or was attempting another one of his sarcastic remarks.

We feared the worst, and it’s true. According to sfgate.com, Jason remains vegan for most of the time, but gives in to flipper ever now and then.

Q: Do you ever give into temptation and microwave a convenience store bacon cheeseburger?

A: No, I never give in. Only when I’m home in San Diego. That’s when you might find me pulling in for a fish taco.

Ah, the disappointment!

Jason’s diet for the other 99% of the time is convenient as it saves him the hassle of prep time on the road.

“My food is mostly raw vegan. You don’t have to cook too much when you’re in that world. So I might steam some quinoa, and then everything else is just fresh produce. Otherwise you’re eating truck-stop food, which is no bueno.”

Jason Mraz and the fish taco. Russell Simmons and his occasional egg noodles. Are there any good 100% real vegan men standing?

Jeremy Piven either hasn’t learned a lesson or enjoys playing marine Russian Roulette.

Piven was spotted at Gibson’s Steakhouse in Chicago recently chowing down on a piece of whitefish, according to suntimes.com.

Seems he has forgotten about the mercury poisoning incident months ago that caused him to drop out of the Speed The Plow play production.

Earlier this summer, Piven claimed to be fish free for 10 months. Is it time to go back to rehab?

Whitefish is supposed to be considered lower in mercury than other varieties, but that’s only helping Jeremy, not the fish and other marine life.

Overfishing.org has suggestions for combating the problem of commercial and non-commercial fishing depleting the oceans such as limiting the number and type of fish captured.

We’ll go one step further and recommend Jeremy and other “fish eating vegetarians” to take the plunge into the veg ocean themselves-give up flipper completely!

Stephanie Birkitt David Letterman Meaty Scandal

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, October 2nd, 2009 in Food & Drink, Not So Vegetarian, TV Hosts, Videos.

By now you’ve already heard the scandalous story surrounding The Late Show host David Letterman, his affair with personal assistant Stephanie Birkitt, and the extortion fail by Robert “Joe” Halderman.

Since you can get that smut information anywhere else on the web, we thought we’d break to you an even bigger controversy surrounding David and Stephanie.

Stephanie would often hand audience members prizes during some of David’s quizzes like the “Know Your Current Events” featured in the video above, where she can be seen around minute 3:30.

Besides “Know Your Current Events”, Dave also featured Know Your Cuts of Meat, where an audience member was shown a piece of meat and asked to identify it.

Yes, that’s right. Slabs of loin, shoulder, rib and dozens of other parts full of animals that had been passed around and manhandled more than an intern on Capital Hill.

And don’t even get us started on the whoring of those future meat cuts known as factory farm dairy cows who, unlike other pimps, farmers are hoping to knock up so they can get more milk.

“Know Your Cuts of Meat” is definitely not our in our Fave 5 for Letterman skits and we’re hoping in the future audience members can be quizzed (or rather given the answers before the clip so they’ll always get them right) on something like “Know Your 7 Grains in Bread” or “Know Your Completed Protein Pairs.”

Cindy Crawford Should Re-Read “Skinny Bitch”

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, September 30th, 2009 in Food & Drink, Models, Not So Vegetarian.

Cindy Crawford Style for JCPenney Launch Party

Cindy Crawford has recently announced she’s a fan of Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin‘s vegan diet book, Skinny Bitch.

But Cindy either has a different copy than the rest of us or she needs to go through the book again with a yellow highlighter cause she thinks it gives her great incentives to cook with healthy ingredients like “chicken.”

When asked what book she’s recently read that’s had the most impact on her, Cindy answered:

“Skinny Bitch, by Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin. It’s a great incentive to eat well, and I get extra energy from healthy choices like vegetables and chicken – all food we can eat together.”

But Cindy is known for her misunderstandings of vegetarianism and animal issues.

She once posed in an anti-fur campaign, then appeared on the cover of Vogue wearing a hide that wasn’t her own.

Veganism and chicken, anti-fur and fur-it’s all the same to some supermodels.

Kate Gosselin To Join Cheeseburger Casserole Making Paula Deen?

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009 in Chefs, Not So Vegetarian, Reality TV, Recipes.

Paula Deen - 'The Deen Family Cookbook'

The reports that Kate Gosselin may be doing a talk show have been confirmed, as Kate joined Paula Deen for a pilot taping in NYC recently.

Yes, the Paula Deen, the woman who puts a dairy farm’s worth of butter in her dishes, already laced with animal fat and other touches of “southern cooking.”

The gift giver of 25,000 pounds of ham last Holiday season. Yep, you remember.

If Kate starts cooking like Paula, she’ll have enough cholesterol on hand for every multiple birth mom in the country.

Paula is now targeting your children, with a recent “Cheeseburger Casserole,” one of several “kid friendly” recipes as described by msnbc.msn.com.

With evidence showing the buildup of fatty plaques in the arteries begins in childhood, a cheeseburger casserole filled with beef and cheese isn’t what we’d call “kid friendly.”

But it also serves as an opportunity to show that almost any traditional dish can be made vegetarian.

Substitute the beef for some Boca crumbles. Even pick up your favorite soy and non-dairy cheese if you want to veganize it.

If you’re interested in taking the challenge of de-cholesteroling Paula’s cheeseburger casserole, visit msnbc.msn.com.
