Heather Mills works on her new vegan restaurant

Heather Mills put on her overalls and picked up a bucket of paint this weekend to scrub and decorate the walls of her new vegan restaurant, V Bites, that will open July 4 in the UK.

She was accompanied by daughter with former husband Paul McCartney, Beatrice, as well as some friends.

Heather is taking quite an active role in V Bites. Besides scrubbing and painting the exteriors, she’ll also be a regular chef on Sundays, cooking her favorite veg dishes of roast potatoes, parsnips, and veggie gravy.

Heather said what will shock people the most is that the faux meats taste just like the real thing.

We shall see!

Prince Alwaleed, who’s full name is (take a deep breath) Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, is often called the Arabian Warren Buffet.

A member of the Saudi Royal family, Alwaleed is the nephew of the Saudi Arabia King Abdullah, and the grandson of the first Lebanese prime minister after independence Riad as-Solh.

He’s ranked by Forbes as one of the top 25 richest people in the world and amassed his fortune through the stock market and real estate.

Dealbreaker.com recently got some insight on how Warren Buffet of Arabia keeps his body as well as his portfolio healthy.

“In 1985 he earned an M.A. with honors in Social Science from Syracuse University. During that time, he recalls, he put on a lot of weight. He’s been extremely health-conscious ever since and is now a strict vegetarian who avoids fatty foods, exercises every day and devotes himself to keeping fit. He is a keen cyclist who makes habit of riding for at least one hour a day, although he concedes to keeping a phone handy for deal making. He also puts swimming, walking and skiing on his agenda whenever possible.”

Heather Mills Makes Mister Whippy Marry Mrs. Vegan Swirly

Written by Vegetarian Star on Saturday, June 27th, 2009 in Business, Chefs, Food & Drink, Models.

Farm Sanctuarys 2008 Gala

But if ” Mrs.” Swirly is already married…uh-oh.

Heather Mills will be serving a vegan soft serve ice cream at her V Bites restaurant, which opens July 4.

The vegan treat, called Mrs. Swirly, is meant to imitate the famous Mister Whippy variety. Heather came up with the idea after her daughter, Beatrice, had to miss out on ice cream while surrounded by other kids.

“When we were out I’d notice other kids got an ice cream and my daughter Beatrice would just get a fruit lolly and I thought I’ve got to do something.”

If you’re like most vegans who crave sweets, you love to get your ice cream on as often as possible.

But if you don’t live in the UK near Heather’s restaurant, there are plenty of store bought varieties to satisfy your dairyless craving from Chicago Soy Dairy’s Temptation brands to Turtle Mountain’s So Delicious to Rice Dream.

Bank Of America Credit Card Helps Humane Society Of United States

Taking a little break from regular celebrity gossip to bring you fantastic news.

Bank of America Credit Cards has teamed up with the Humane Society of the United States to offer a unique HSUS credit card!

Not only can you carry cute kitty in your wallet, but every time you whip out this Platinum Plus no annual fee Visa, Bank of America will donate $.25 to every $100 dollars you spend.

Credit cards may have a bad reputation for high interest rates, fees, and rapidly changing policies, but let’s face it-we all need them from time to time.

Why not help an animal in need the next time you choose monetary “plastic” instead of paper (cash).

Absolutely cool video of Benji and Joel Madden behind the scenes at Denny’s restaurant, making burritos for Denny’s Rockstar Menu.

Thanks to Joel for the lovely Tweet to direct us there.

The Rockstar menu was created by various musicians who went into Denny’s kitchen and whipped up their favorite grub.

Benji and Joel created a vegetarian burrito with a Boca Burger.

“Kids when you order this, I want you to imagine that we’re back here, making it for you, with love,” says Benji.

We will, Benji. We’ll keep the love alive.

Travis McCoy gave a Twitter update, where he gave props to one of his favorite vegetarian restaurants. It would have been nice if he had Tweeted what he ate.

“At my favorite veggie restaurant in NYC, CURLY’s gettin it IN.”

After looking at the menu, our vote is for quesadilla…or…who knows?

Curly’s has all the diner style food a laid back ordinary guy could ask for-but in vegetarian and vegan versions.

An extensive breakfast collection that includes pancakes and granola, an entire menu section devoted to “burger” and fries, as well as veg sandwiches like sloppy joes, “Suna Melt” (fake tuna) and “TLT” (tofu bacon, lettuce, and tomato).

If we were there right now, we’d be gettin’ it too!

Alice Walker Praises “May I Be Frank?”

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, June 22nd, 2009 in Authors, Business.

Broadway Opening Of The Color Purple

May I Be Frank? is a total makeover show for one man’s diet and life.

In the film, which is in the final production stages, an obese Italian American named Frank Ferrante is taken in by three guys at the Cafe Gratitude for a complete diet 180 to help Frank get healthier, rediscover himself, and fall in love.

If you recall us telling you, Cafe Gratitude is what raw vegan singer and songwriter Jason Mraz chose to name his current tour after.

The guys at Cafe Gratitude coach Frank as the former 10 espresso coffee drinks a day and drug addict eats only organic, raw vegan food for 42 days.

Alice Walker has recently reviewed the film on her blog, and praises the men at Cafe Gratitude for helping Frank reinvent himself.

“Some of us have taken our unruly selves in hand, the prerequisite step for liberation and peace, and some of us have dedicated ourselves to helping our sisters and brothers along. Not for the “doing good” aspect, which is fine, but simply for the fun of it. It is finally, fun, for these three young men to help Frank find his true and radiant self. Or joy, that word for which I am convinced our planet was meant.”

Have you experienced joy in doing good for someone lately? Whether it’s buying a carton of soymilk for your friend to try or warning your uncle about the dangers of trans-fat, is it time you gave yourself pleasure for helping someone along?
