Alicia Silverstone Vegan Diet Goes To The Dogs

Alicia Silverstone‘s fans know the actress could probably eat from the same bowl her dogs do. Silverstone placed her pets on a vegetarian diet years ago and has seen positive results.

“Since I changed their diet about 10 years ago, they’ve had no fleas or itchy hot spots,” she said. “Their immune systems got so strong that those things don’t bother them anymore.”

Otep is a vegetarian and animal rights activist who has been featured as one of Revolver magazine’s “Hottest Chicks in Metal.”

“Making conscious sacrifices for the benefit of others, whether it’s animal rights or for people who are struggling–I think that is an act of courage,” Otep told PETA2 in an interview. “Taking a stand, caring about something seems to be much more rebellious in a country, society or culture where conformity matter.”

It took producer Trish Dolman almost a decade to make the story of Sea Shepherd’s Captain Paul Watson‘s life of fighting whaling with sometimes controversial, but effective techniques. Dolman attributed the completion of the movie to not only acquiring the right amount of funds, but to a change in the attitudes of movie goers. Environmental films are gaining popularity.

Michael Vick Wants Tougher Laws For Dog Fighting Spectators

Michael Vick is joining the Humane Society of the United States to fight for legislation that cracks down on attending dog fighting events and imposes additional penalties for getting minors involved.

H.R. 2492, the Animal Fighting Spectator Prohibition Act, is a bipartisan act introduced by Reps. Tom Marino, R-Pa., and Betty Sutton, D-Ohio.

“The Zookeeper” Receives Protests At Premiere

Activists from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals staged a protest outside the Regency Village Theatre in Westwood, California at the premiere of Kevin James‘ new Zookeeper film.

Although New York Magazine says the movie earned an approval rating from the American Humane Association, the group claims a giraffe collapsed and died after filming a scene.

Sheryl Crow is donating a portion of sales from an upcoming concert to the Cloud Foundation, a horse protection organization that is suing the U.S. government for rounding up wild horses and burros in the West.

The Bureau of Land Management would like to roundup 1,700 mustangs on the Nevada-Utah line.
