Wayne Pacelle of Humane Society On Ag-Gag Laws In “Businessweek”

Wayne Pacelle, CEO of the Humane Society of the United States is featured in Bloomberg’s Businessweek.

Animal welfare is not only a compassionate business, it’s also a business of wealth, as the renown magazine notes the HSUS is the nation’s largest animal-welfare organization with an annual budget of $160 budget, receiving support from over a million donors.

Pacelle discussed the issues of farming, undercover investigations and pets.

Carrie Ann Inaba Gives Cats A Purrfect 10

Carrie Ann Inaba

Carrie Ann Inaba has always had a fondness for cats.

She shares this with the Humane Society of the United States in its May/June 2013 issue of All Animals Magazine.

Her first cat was a stray she picked up while working as a dancer on In Living Color in the nineties.

Years later she’s invited two more cats into her home and has co-created and hosted a web series on finding homes for special needs cats.

Peter Facinelli

Peter Facinelli attended an event for the Onyx & Breezy Foundation, a non-profit animal welfare organization.

Facinelli and his girlfriend, along with several other celebrities, enjoyed a completely vegan meal of “meatless meatloaf and mushroom risotto and peanut butter and jelly ice cream” according to People.

Facinelli stayed for awhile to support the event to help animals, but his stay was cut for his concern with his own new four-legged family member.

Daniella Monet

Daniella Monet stars in a new PETA2 ad that encourages people to replace the fish on their plate with something plant-based.

Even vegetarians can be guilty of indulging in occasional fish or forgetting that the food technically does count as meat.

“Not a lot of people touch on fish and how important it is to eliminate that and keep that veggie diet,” Monet says in an interview in a clip that includes behind the scenes shot from the making of the ad.

“I thought “Why not do an underwater mermaid show and stress that you don’t need fish and let the fish swim with the mermaids.”

Willie Nelson is inviting horse lovers across the nation to consider adopting one of his “Signature Horses” at Habitat for Horses.

The organization takes in rescue horses from a variety of abuse and neglect situations.

Over the years, Nelson and his daughter have worked with Habitat for Horses to help over 70 horses find loving homes.

The adoption rules for horses are obviously more extensive than for your typical house pet.

Ke$ha has recorded a short video for the Humane Society of the United States where she discusses some of the major bills Congress is considering this year.

A vegetarian and recent recipient of the organization’s Wyler Award given to notable people who’ve made a difference in animal welfare, Ke$ha has made it a priority to educate and urge her fans about issues such as stray animals and shark finning.

Finding Nemo

Disney-Pixar has announced that Finding Dory, a sequel to the 2003 Finding Nemo will be released in 2015.

The cartoon depicting the daily lives of clownfish and other marine animals may be the perfect opportunity to teach children and movie goers of all ages a lesson that–although not able to communicate like the fish in films–fish are living creatures that should not be eaten.

Ryan Gosling To National Milk Federation On Dehorning Calves

Ryan Gosling has written a letter to the National Milk Federation that urges the organization to reconsider the practice of dehorning calves.

“Dehorning is one of the most painful things done to cows on dairy farms, whether it is by burning a calf with a searing hot iron or applying caustic paste to create a chemical burn that eats away at the animal’s flesh,” writes Gosling.
