Amanda Seyfried Wears “Adopt Don’t Buy” T-Shirt

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, March 31st, 2011 in Actresses, Animal Issues, Fashion.

Amanda Seyfried knows who the Alpha Dog is when it comes to pets.

The actress took a trip to FedEx to mail a package and wore her Adopt Don’t Buy. Breeders Kill Shelter Dogs Chances t-shirt available from PETA.

The fitted tee is 100% cotton and hand-made in the U.S.A. in downtown Los Angeles.

The actress who’s had roles in All My ChildrenMeans Girls and other films realizes not only does adopting a shelter dog reduce the millions of animals euthanized each year, but it increases your chances of owning a dog that is less prone to hereditary disorders that lead to sickness, disease, disability or even premature death due to generations of inbreeding.

“I wanted people to have an opportunity to really be kind to themselves—once and for all, have everything they ever dreamed of, like the strongest immune system, the most beautiful skin, increased energy so they are just so vital, and reduced risk of illness—from the really scary ones like cancer, heart disease, diabetes and arthritis to allergies and asthma. The great news is that in that process you are also being kind to the planet and also kind to other creatures and also kind to children and people of the world who have no food. Biz Stone And Martha Stewart Make Seitan Bourguignon

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, March 30th, 2011 in Film & TV, Food & Drink.

Biz Stone‘s segment on The Martha Stewart Show has been posted to Gawker.

“One of the things we like to do is we like to take real comfort food [and make it vegan]. And this particular food is like a stew that’s really great during a rainy day,” Biz said.

Biz revealed that when his wife Livia is cooking at home, he reads books to her while she’s at the stovetop.

“We have a bunch of classic books. We just finished Treasure Island. We have a lot of the Sherlock Holmes stories…That’s kind of like, my role in the kitchen.”

Using Westsoy brand of seitan, Biz and Martha walk through the steps of cooking seitan bourguignon. While Martha is stirring the seitan, Biz jokes, “I guess I should be reading to you.”
