Betty White will make an appearance at Binn’s in Williamsburgh, Virginia on October 16th, 2010 to sign hand crafted ornaments called The Pet Set. The event will occur right before a fundraiser to raise money for the Morris Animal Foundation in the Virginia Room of the Williamsburg Lodge at 7 PM.

White has supported the foundation for years, which funds research to treat and cure conditions in household pets, zoo animals and other wildlife.

Ironically, one of the recent studies Morris Animal Foundation has completed on dog bite education received by physicians and veterinarians, was funded by Proctor and Gamble, a company that still conducts animal testing for its line of cosmetic and household products like Olay, Crest and Pampers.

Perhaps Katy Perry and Russell Brand should put a few bottles of Bean-zyme on their wedding registry.

The “California Gurls” singer revealed Brand’s vegetarian diet of cruciferous vegetables and other high fiber foods leave her begging for a separate room during her fiance’s digestive time.

“Being a vegetarian his farts are the worst things ever. Lingering and revolting,” Perry was quoted by The Sun as saying.

“Then he tries to Dutch oven me! Just too gross,” she added. For you Urban Dictionary illiterate, more on that Dutch oven later. Hint: It has nothing to do with the smell of delicious baked bread coming from it.

Beano is the popular supplement for gas, but vegetarians won’t benefit one iota as it comes in a gelatin capsule. Luckily, it’s veggie friendly, staunch, anti-farting cousin, Bean-zyme is available.

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, August 23rd, 2010 in Animal Issues, Male Musicians, Male Singers.

Moby‘s interview with BlogCritics mentions his work with the Humane Society of the United States. The musician cites the organization as his favorite because of their work to protect animals at the legislative level.

“What I like about the Humane Society is how big and effective they are, especially on a legislative level. I mean, there are a lot of great animal rights organizations who save dogs and save cats, but the Humane Society is actually really good at working with Congress and getting legislation actually passed.”

Who’s says the only good tasting green dip is guacamole?

Kristen Bell enjoys a dip made from edamame, an immature form of the soybean still in the pod.

She told Shape, “My friend, Chef RenĂ©e Loux, created a low-calorie substitute for guacamole that’s so satisfying,” she says. “It’s just edamame, olive oil, rice vinegar, and salt.”

This dip packs an impressive 10 grams of protein per 1/2 cup serving. The recipe calls for frozen edamame, which is packaged by well known organic companies like Cascadian Farm or Woodstock Farms brands.

Ready to start dipping those veggies, bread and crackers? Visit Shape for the recipe.
