Ladies' halfpipe medals awarded at 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver

What did Hannah Teter load up on during the week she won the Silver Medal in the Women’s snowboard halfpipe competition in this year’s winter Olympics?

People magazine says Hannah starts her day with a smoothie and likes to cook stir-fry vegetable dishes with a side a quinoa.

“I don’t overcook, because you lose what’s good in the food,” Hannah said.

Loved to know what else Hannah creates in the kitchen.

Is there any chance of a vegetarian Olympian cookbook in the works?

Cory says vegetarian restaurant The Naam is the best place to healthily pig out…even if he only eats there every once in awhile.

“I like to eat healthy sometimes. But I like to eat incredibly badly sometimes too. I try to balance it out. If you go to The Naam, you can at least feel as though the large stomach full of food you’re sleeping on is at least vegetables.”

Of course, The Naam has more than broccoli and carrots.

By eating low fat, high fiber and high protein plant foods like beans, Leona doesn’t have to worry much about looking good for her audience.

She told new! magazine, “I think every woman feels under pressure to look a certain way, and women do it to other women – which seems so bizarre. I want to look good, but being healthy is my main thing. I want to promote being healthy in your own body shape.”

Will Jessica Simpson Give Up Bacon?

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, February 22nd, 2010 in Animal Issues, Female Singers, Food & Drink.

Jessica Simpson joins her family at BOA steakhouse to celebrate her father Joe's birthday

Months after losing her best four legged Maltipoo friend Daisy, Jessica Simpson is thinking of adopting another animal.

Simpson Tweeted that she’d like to own a pig.

“I’m thinking about getting a pet pig. Does this mean I’ll have to give up pork?”

Sounds like a fairly innocent statement.

Simpson’s love for her new pet might cause her to rethink eating many animals, including pigs.

But PETA isn’t satisfied and issued a statement to US magazine:

“Pigs, who are smarter than dogs and every bit as sensitive to pain and stress, don’t belong in Jessica’s stomach or carted around as her latest.”

Simpson’s pet move could place her in the ranks of another celebrity scorned by the animal rights group for her treatment of animals–Paris Hilton.

The hotel heiress bought “Princess Piglet” last fall.

If Simpson cuts bacon, ham and Spam from her diet, she may discover that meaty taste doesn’t have to involve saturated fat or slaughter.

Some girls are still eating meat, but real girls know when it’s time to at least go flexitarian.
