Jimmy Kimmel Does The Raunchy Tofu On Late Night Television

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, May 29th, 2009 in Humor, TV Hosts, Videos.

7th Annual TV Land Awards - Show

More evidence that Jimmy Kimmel has love for veggies. Or at least the X-rated ones.

On a recent episode, he featured the story of a woman in Colorado who wanted to profess her love for tofu on her license plate, but the DMV’s dirty mind stopped her.

Vegdaily.com wrote up the story about Kelley Coffman-Lee wanting a license plate that read ILVTOFU, along with a video CNN did on the news.

Us clean minded folks know there’s nothing more to that than, “I love tofu.”

But the pervs at the DMV claim it violates their policies on naughty license plates and the plate could be interpreted by someone else as “I love to…” you fill in the blank.

Kimmel brought a prop version of the plate on stage and kept the audience in stitches as he continued to ask members of his crew why they thought the license plate was rejected. Apparently, Kimmel’s crew thinks clean thoughts too as they appeared completely dazed and confused, unable to see the hidden meaning in an innocent profession for soybean love.

As if we really believe that one…

Come out of the veg closet already, Jimmy. You know you love tofu too.

You can watch the clip of Jimmy and the X rated tofu license plate.

Fox’s Mental Starring Chris Vance Debuts With Animal Rights Clip

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, May 29th, 2009 in Animal Issues.

ACTOR CHRIS VANCE

The new Fox drama Mental featured an animal rights scene on its debut episode this week.

Mental features a psychiatrist named Dr. Jack Gallagher (Chris Vance), who arrives at a hospital with some unorthodox approaches to patient care (the first episode he got naked in front of his staff and the police to calm a schizophrenic man who was also naked. Yes, it gives a whole new meaning to the “put yourself in the patient’s shoes” motto.

Dr. Gallagher is like his sister (or rather brother) Fox TV Medical doc Dr. House without the attitude (and without the clothing?), as he sends his residents to patients’ homes and into their lives outside the medical office to investigate possible connections to their current illness.

Dr. Gallagher’s residents speak to the family of the schizophrenic man, one of which is a younger brother who happens to be standing on the street passing out pamphlets and discussing harp seals and global warming.

When CBS’ The Mentalist featured an animal rights protest scene, we suspiciously thought Owain Yeoman slid some dollars in the producers pocket to change the script a little.

But maybe network television is catching on that the veg and AR movement is more common than once thought. Or Yeoman is running down the street to ABC on his break and slipping dollar bills in their pockets too.

Either way, it’s good to see the AR movement being portrayed on network television in a positive manner versus a crime solving TV show with agents tracking down extremist who are burning buildings or worse.

Mental airs on Fox Tuesdays at 9/8c.

Bristol Palin and Hayden Panettiere on a panel on Teen pregnancy prevention

With the innocent face that Bristol Palin possesses, it almost seems too cruel to make fun of her.

After all, she is her own person, too young for the world to attack her simply because she shares genes with a particular 2008 vice presidential candidate the media loved to pounced on as well.

It’s downright unfair… And funny, hehehe.

The Spoof is at it again, this time choosing to poke fun of Canada governor general Michaëlle Jean slaughtering a seal, then eating its raw heart. Sounds like Jean’s got motherly instincts.

“Using a traditional Inuit ulu blade Palin, 19, chomped her way through the palpitating organ in an apparent gesture of one-upmanship with her moose-slaughtering mother Sarah.”

“”Yummy!” Bristol told press reporters who witnessed the sacrificial rite this weekend. “And so full of rich nutrients it almost makes ya wish you’re pregnant again!””

Apparently Bristol’s ex boy and baby daddy Levi Johnston is much, much older than we all thought. Find out his real age at Thespoof.com.

Contestants from the new NBC show Im a celebrity get me out of here give an interview about the upcoming show

Basketball legend John Salley is set to appear on the NBC reality TV show I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here. I’m a Celebrity will feature 10 celebrities trying to survive in the Costa Rican jungle.

Salley is vegan, but doesn’t think that will hurt his chances in the competition. Let’s just hope there aren’t any eating contests involving kangaroo penis like the one that screwed over Timmy Mallet.

From a recent interview with nba.fanhouse.com:

You are also a devout vegan. Do you think that will be a strike against you right off the bat?
No, it’s a strike for me, because I’m really not hungry for fake food – I’m only hungry for real food (laughs). So, I’m not going to miss any of the processed things. I’ve mostly cleared my body of the desire for sugar and plastic food. Plus, I’m a vegan because every day I make sure my body stays as clean as I can possibly get it so I can have a better life. If I have to eat certain things during tasks to get to the ultimate goal, it’s not going to take away from the fact that I’m a vegan. I mean, I’ve prepared my body; so in case anything bad does come to it, I can fight it off.

Salley earned the nickname “Spider Salley” because he is horrified by spiders. His biggest fear is a tarantula, but as long as they’re not on the menu for I’m a Celebrity, he’s cool with it.

“So, I said, ‘You know what? I know it’s in the jungle. As long as I don’t have to eat a live one, I’m cool.'”

Mayim Bialik’s What Not To Wear Makeover Changes Her Leather Shoe Policy

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, May 29th, 2009 in Actresses, Fashion.

Opening Of CavaliaMayim Bialik had the privilege of receiving a makeover compliments of the team at What Not To Wear.

Although Mayim’s said before she’d never call herself completely vegan, she does try to avoid leather. Mayim used to take it a bit further and avoid products that even looked like leather.

From celebrity-babies.com:

“They made me throw out my Doc Martens, but when we went to the vegan shoe store in Manhattan they had vegan Doc Martens, so I may have to indulge! My policy used to be that I didn’t like to wear shoes that looked like leather, even if they weren’t, but I let that go, because my feeling is if they aren’t leather, then it’s OK for them to look leather. I gave them so many limitations with my rules on bold colors, pants, frills, so I figured I’d wear vegan shoes that look like leather.”

Some people refuse to wear fake fur for the same reason. What’s your take on the situation? Should vegetarians and vegans avoid wearing lookalikes because they give the wrong impression?
