Stella McCartney Fans Don’t Dress For The Occasion

Green activist Sloan Barnett recently hosted a party at Neiman Marcus to honor ethical fashion designer Stella McCartney.

Now anyone who hasn’t had their head in a sandbox knows vegetarian Stella’s not about killing animals and putting them in her clothing line. So you would think anyone attending a party for her would show respect and do the same. Not so, according to sfgate.com:

“The 37-year-old daughter of Sir Paul McCartney wore black – slouchy top and harem pants – with her hair in a bun and little makeup, an understated British style that was just the opposite of many of those who attended, decked out in Rodarte, Chanel and the occasional (gasp!) fur. Guess they didn’t get the memo: McCartney is a vegetarian who eschews leather.”

Yikes! Maybe parties like these should have eco bouncers.

44th Annual Academy Of Country Music Awards - Press Room

Neither rain, nor sleet, nor snow can stop the postman and neither hunters nor Humane Society haters can stop Carrie Underwood.

The country music singer and American Idol winner scored big at the 44th Academy of Country Music Awards, winning both entertainer of the year and top female vocalist.

There was controversy with some of her fans over her decision to donate proceeds from this year’s American Idol elimination song she sings to the Humane Society of the United States. Some even urged others online to vote for anyone else but Carrie in the ACM awards.

Carrie Underwood Gets Clean With Frais Hand Sanitizer

When on the road or anytime between hand washing, it’s nice to have waterless sanitizer on hand.

But most brands of sanitizer contain unhealthy added ingredients that aren’t good for people or the environment. Not to mention made by companies that may have tested the product on animals.

Frais Luxury products has all natural, vegan hand sanitizers that are free of everything a veg who’s concerned about hygiene could ask for: parabens, propylene glycol, and other unnatural chemicals. And absolutely no animal testing. Plus, Frais is PETA certified as a cruelty-free vegan cosmetic company.

Reportedly, celebs like Carrie Underwood, Kelly Ripa, America Ferrera, and Britney Spears have all scrubbed their hands clean with Frais’ products and liked the results.

Using sugarcane alcohol as the main ingredient, Frais then adds all the smelly stuff like tangerine and ginger that will keep you sniffing yourself minutes after you apply.

Just try to avoid doing this for too long in public.

Carrie Underwood Haters Urging No Vote In Country Music Awards

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, April 2nd, 2009 in Animal Issues, Female Singers.

51st Annual Grammy Awards - Press Room

When Carrie Underwood announced she was donating proceeds from the Idol elimination song she’s singing this year to the Humane Society of the United States, there was outcry from hunters and others in the animal agriculture industry.

The U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance even urged hunters to contact Fox, demanding the station pull Carrie’s song from the show.

Unsuccessful at previous attempts to destroy the singer’s musical success, protesters are now asking people to go online and vote for anyone other than her in the Academy of Country Music’s (ACM) Entertainer of the Year category.

This is in response to the Humane Society cheering for Carrie and asking voters to pick her for the same award.

What do you predict will happen? Will Carrie’s loyal team gear up and recruit even more voters?

Stella McCartney Is A Force For Nature At NRDC Event

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, April 1st, 2009 in Environment-Eco-Green, Fashion.

Natural Resources Defense Council 11th Annual Forces For Nature Benefit

Stella McCartney was honored by the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) recently at its Forces For Nature gala.

The environmental group honored both the vegetarian fashion designer who refuses to use leather in her products, as well as Discovery Channel chief David Zaslav.

Attendees at the event were entertained by comedians and dined on a vegetarian meal.

Stella’s proud papa, Paul McCartney was there with girlfriend Nancy Shevell.

“A love of nature has been instilled in [Stella] as she grew up,” Paul said. “But I don’t want to take any credit. She’s a smart girl. When she came in to the fashion industry, she came in to Gucci, which is leather city. I was really wondering how long it would be before she’d have to cave in to the economic pressures, but she just hung in there.”

Other celebrity attendees included Tom and Kathy Freston, Barry Diller, Diane von Furstenberg, Graydon and Anna Carter, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Ron Perelman, Zhang Ziyi and host Alec Baldwin.

Stella’s fashion line is quite successful, and the fact that more environmentally friendly attire is making its way into women’s closets is a bonus. And that’s just how Stella prefers it.

“I don’t want people to buy my stuff because they know it’s not leather,” she said with a smile. “I just want them to want the boots.”

Rise Against Band Fronts Impotency Drug, Rise Again

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, April 1st, 2009 in Bands, Male Musicians, Male Singers.

KROQ Almost Acoustic Xmas - Day 1

The all vegetarian band Rise Against is quite vocal in letting people know the benefits of being vegetarian, whether that be  mentioning it during an interview or handing out PETA pamphlets at one of their concerts.

So they were elated when a well known large and successful pharmaceutical company decided to collaborate with them to name an impotency drug, “Rise Again,” after the band.

The drug apparently gives you several servings of fruits and vegetables in one capsule and helps you to resist the urge to eat artery clogging meat products which can cause impotence.

“In essence, this drug will help men all over the world “rise again,” said lead scientist Dr. Peter Peterson.

“We thought the band would be perfect to front the drug,” added marketing executive Jill Johnson.

“After all, their name “Rise Against,” symbolizes what men desire. To rise against the unhealthy habits that are causing their impotency and be able to in fact, “rise again,” and please their partners.”

Lead singer of the band Tim McIlrath said, “It’s great that we were chosen to represent Rise Again. The most important thing about a vegetarian diet is that it helps prevent impotency. It’s good for the environment and saves the animals too, but no impotency is the main benefit. I myself, or any of my band mates have never experienced impotency. We attribute it to our vegetarian lifestyle.”

Rise Again is currently in the final stages of clinical trials. No side effects have been reported and it doesn’t interact with other medications. Rise Again is expected to hit the OTC shelves late this summer.

Note: This story is a bunch of vegan hogwash. But it’s April 1st, so what were you expecting?
