Stella McCartney Could Design Queen’s Guards Faux Bear Skin Hats

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, July 21st, 2010 in Animal Issues, Fashion.

Stella McCartney is proving once again she’s an ethical leader in the fashion industry by proposing to design the hats worn by the Queen’s guards, according to The Telegraph. The hats are traditionally made from bearskin, but PETA is set to meet with Peter Luff, minister for defence equipment, support and technology, to discuss a faux alternative they say meets rigorous standards for waterproofing and warmth.

The technology that could make this happen is called Bear28.

“I’ve been working on this with Peta for a few years now and am really happy with the final product, as I hope the MoD will be when they see it,” McCartney said.

Joanna Krupa Weighs In On Effectiveness Of Nude PETA Ads

An article at Fox has people weighing in on the effectiveness of nudity in advertising.

PETA has a monopoly in the nude campaign niche, and Joanna Krupa, who posed in an ad for pet adoption, gave her thoughts as to whether or not nudity is appropriate for animal rights campaigns.

“I am happy with my body and have no issue with displaying it for something that is close to my heart and important to me, like selling a healthy body image, beautiful swimwear or, most importantly, raising awareness about the endless abuse against animals,” Krupa said.

“And it sticks to our minds, we pass it on to friends or discuss it with colleagues and that means ‘mission accomplished’ for the ad.”

PETA’s senior vice president Dan Matthews said,“Nothing attracts attention like nudity. It’s especially helpful when trying to get the attention of people who turn away from animal issues because they don’t want to hear about blood, guts, and suffering.”

“Our biggest campaign involves promoting veganism and fighting the obesity epidemic, and it’s more effective to showcase a fit vegan body when the person isn’t wearing much. There’s a lot of competition for consumers’ attention, so as a charity, we have to be creative and provocative in order to stay as visible as the cruel industries that we fight.”

They’re hot, creative and are only asking people to spay and neuter their pets or stop eating Big Macs.

How harmless can a full PETA be, and should some people in America stop complaining about it?

Singer Pink To Kanye West: Shut The Fur Up!

Stella McCartney: Paris Fashion Week Ready-to-Wear A/W 09

The fur’s about to fly between singer Pink and Kanye West.

Kanye showed less than good manners while attending a fashion show hosted by vegetarian designer Stella McCartney when he insisted on talking about fur. Oh, and did we mention, Stella’s vegetarian dad, Paul McCartney and PETA vice president Dan Matthews were present too? Don’t forget that Pink is also vegetarian.

Smooth, Kanye. Real smooth.

“Kanye West is the person p**sing me off right now,” Pink said.

“I was at Stella McCartney’s Paris fashion show with the vice president of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, Paul McCartney and Kanye West.”

“The entire time Kanye is going, ‘They need more fur in this show’. He just wouldn’t shut up about how he loved fur. I mean, he’s saying this to me, the PETA guy and Paul McCartney! I was just so grossed out by him. I’m like, ‘You’re an idiot!'”

And who wants a Kanye pelt?

“There are so many people who I think are a waste of skin and he’s up there. I should wear him. Go on, donate yourself Kanye. People can wear your fur.”

Dan Matthews: Get Obamas Naked, Madonna Is Middle Aged Witch

Alec Baldwin Hosts A Screening Of Blinders

Dan Matthews, senior vice president of PETA, gave metro.co.uk a few minutes of his time to talk about dressing up as a vegetable, getting arrested, loving Pamela Anderson and hating Madonna.

Not to mention getting Mr. and Mrs. President Obama in the nude for a campaign against fur.

There’s really too much to mention here, so we’ll summarize.

Next celebrity he wants to get naked for PETA
Michelle Obama would be awesome. She doesn’t wear fur and she’s so cool. We could go for the two of them, her and Barack.

Countries with the best jails
My favourite was in Hong Kong. They brought us great vegan meals and then, because we didn’t have any clothes from the naked protest, they gave us Hong Kong police department T-shirts, which were really cool.

Love Don’t Live Here Anymore For Madonna
I was a fan of Madonna in the 1980s but she became this middle-aged witch who thought her style should be defined by wearing fur coats and eating foie gras. We had a long argument over her glamorising bullfighting in her music videos.

Ouch!

Read who else is on Dan’s fur enemy list at metro.co.uk.
