Halloween 2 Gave Sheri Moon Zombie Food Horror Stories

Halloween 2 Premiere in Hollywood

Sheri Moon Zombie, wife of director and musician Rob Zombie, learned the hard way it’s not always easy to get veg food in every part of the country.

While filming for Halloween 2 in Georgia, Sherri said she had the choice of either fast food or Walmart.

“I did not like Georgia at all. We stayed in this town called Covington and, whenever I had a day off, it was Walmart or fast food. I’m a vegetarian, so I don’t eat fast food. And, I said, “If I go into Walmart again, I’m going to shoot myself.”

Sounds like a true horror story.

Rob’s a veggie too and he’s even included two main characters that are vegetarian in Halloween 2, which hit the theatres today.

Torrie Wilson: The Semi-Vegetarian

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, August 28th, 2009 in Athletes-Games-Sports, Food & Drink, Models, Reality TV.

Awards Room At The Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards 2007

We told you how wrestling champion and model Torrie Wilson was convinced to go vegetarian after spending some quality time with John Salley in the jungle.

Uh, in the jungle for I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here.

Always important to explain yourself fully.

Anyway, turns out Torrie is not completely veg-she still eats birds.

But at least she’s dramatically cut a lot of meat from her diet.

From Diva-Dirt.com:

You noted that you’ve become a vegetarian since leaving the jungle, how did that come about?
Torrie: I have become semi-vegetarian. I cut out most meat but do still eat a small amount of turkey and chicken here and there. John Salley taught me a lot about the vegetarian and vegan lifestyle and I took lots of mental notes! I also felt great after not eating meat for 30 days, so I figured something must be right!

Does she realize how great she’ll feel after cutting all meat from her diet?

C’mon Torrie, we know you can do it!

Think of it as a challenge competition to smoke Sanjaya.

UK Film Premiere: Ano Una - Arrivals

Hilarious!

Chrissie Hynde is normally quite calm, but still opinionated when sharing her views on vegetarianism and animals.

We think all the excitement from one of her recent performance made her a little less inhibited.

In Toronto, Chrissie grabbed the mic and yelled:

“Meat eaters, go [expletive]yourselves.”

Fiona Morrow at theglobeandmail.com wanted to keep her column clean.

You can fill in the blank as to what you think Chrissie said.

Poor Chrissie had to say something after she smelled something coming from the barbecue stand.

Wonder why she didn’t just ban meat like she’s done before?

Montell Williams Grills PETA President Ingrid Newkirk

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, August 27th, 2009 in Food & Drink, TV Hosts.

The Montel Williams MS Foundation Gala

You’ve probably heard by now that PETA has replaced it’s controversial “Save The Whales” billboard featuring an obese woman with one less offensive, but still advocating vegetarianism.

Talk show host Montell Williams recently sat down with PETA’s president Ingrid Newkirk to discuss the billboard.

Williams’ questions whether PETA went too far.

MW: Ingrid, you have admit, come on, I’ve got it, you were controversial, you hit your home run, it went out of the park, I’m talking about it for three days. And the rest of America is going to keep talking about it. But the truth is, I think Joseph is right. Any child who would use that as a reason, or anybody who now says ‘those fat people are people who pick on animals,’ come on, we’ve got to slow down a little bit.

IN: I wish more than anything you can ever imagine that we could not be controversial, and we could not be provocative. I really do.

Montell even suggests why not make it equal opportunity and put men on the billboard versus targeting women.

His daughter, Wyntergrace, is veggie.

Maybe he’s afraid one day she’ll get naked for a campaign!

Top Chef Delivers Winning Tofu Dish

Top Chef: The Tour 2 Visits New York City

Top Chef included a gender bending vegan challenge during a recent elimination.

The guys had to cook for the bride and the women had to cook for the groom.

The bride’s entourage required the cheftestants to cook for a vegetarian in the bunch.

Scott Tobias, at avclub.com, made light of this situation by poking fun of the pescatarian bride:

“Meanwhile, the bride is more troublesome: She’s a pescatarian (Swim, Nemo, swim! Faster! Faster!) and one of her friends is a vegan, so plenty of fish and at least one non-animal-based dish are an absolute must.”

In the end, the guys won and cheftestant Hector got praise for his tofu dish.

Which is nice, Tobias pointed out, since seitan got the ax last time.

We won’t ask what happened to Flipper. It might be too hard to handle.

Jason Mraz Resists Corn Dogs At Indiana State Fair

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, August 27th, 2009 in Food & Drink, Male Musicians, Male Singers.

Jason Mraz performing live on the NBC morning show

County and state fairs are the hub for vegetarian food, right?

Ha!

And Jimmy Dean makes soy sausages.

Unfortunately fairs are often filled with greased bathed, crusted delicacies of beef, pork and chicken, not to mention all the sugar that would give even a non diabetic problems.

Imagine how out of place raw vegan Jason Mraz felt while playing for the Indiana State Fair recently, where there are copious amounts of midwestern farm exhibits (live pigs, cows-which sometimes are placed near beef samples. How rude!) in addition to your standard meat fare.

When a reporter asked him about resisting all the “tempting” foods, Jason answered, “No problem. I think I missed the pig races as well.”

However, we shouldn’t stereotype fairs, as the ISF has plenty of corn on the cob (this is Indiana, remember. Corn is like, the official state vegetable) and last year’s fair had, you guessed it, fried broccoli, onions, and other wholesome veggies.

Have you attend a local fair that surprised you with the amounts of vegetarian or even vegan foods?

Note: The writer of this post has lived in Indiana and attended the state fair once. Hence, the sarcasm. No offense Hoosiers.

Ted Kennedy Loved His Dogs Sunny And Splash

Bipartisan Senate Leadership Discusses Immigration Bill Failure

The nation is mourning the death of what has been called the last of the great Kennedy “dynasty,” as Senator Ted Kennedy lost his battle with brain cancer Tuesday evening.

Senator Kennedy was an animal lover who owned two dogs, Splash and Sunny, who were at his side on Capitol Hill like a personal assistant or intern would be.

He was influential in several legislative measures to improve animal treatment, including ending commercial whaling, limiting antibiotic use in farm animals and increasing the penalty for dog and rooster fighting from a misdemeanor to a felony just to name a few.

We’ve not only lost a great politician and a Kennedy, we’ve lost an advocate and champion for those who can’t speak for themselves.

Good work, senator.

You will be missed.
