Quantcast Vegetarian Starcelebrity and vegetarian (114)

Contestants from the new NBC show Im a celebrity get me out of here give an interview about the upcoming show

The brief stint Torrie Wilson had on I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here, has caused the former meat eater to go vegetarian and almost vegan.

Guess those meals of worms, cow tongue, and bull testicles kinda turn off the carnivorous desire in you.

During an interview with the Baltimore Sun, Torrie said, “I’ve changed my entire way of eating after the show. I became a vegetarian, almost vegan. I feel wonderful after having the cleansing I had there and getting off sugar.”

Perhaps a little John Salley rubbed off on her? The basketball legend was reported as being “verbally abusive,” as contestants participated in the eating contests because he wouldn’t stop talking about how nasty the delicacies like bull testicles were.

Torrie is a retired fitness instructor, model, and professional wrestler, so she and Diva Tiffany from Extreme Championship Wrestling should hook up and share some recipes.

Torrie came in second to Lou Diamond Phillips and ahead of Salley, who finished third.

Fred Mascherino, ex Taking Back Sunday guitarist and singer who went on to form the band The Color Fred, is so green he’s “phat” off oil!

Vegan Fred has a car that runs on vegetable oil he gets from a Chinese restaurant. Luckily, they don’t fry in lard, otherwise raising the animal who’s fat will eventually run the car kinda cancels out any eco-friendliness.

Using our own fat? Well, that might reduce at least somebody’s footprint-literally.

“Being vegan is about the best thing a person can do to be “green,” Fred said. “Using less, buying less and eating less is the idea but even just eating a little less meat makes a difference.”

The next obvious question is how Fred pays for his oil. It would be COOL to walk into China Express and say, “I’ll take what I ate this week in fuel.”

Some sources even recommend, “Develop a relationship with the manager or owner of local establishments. Tell him or her that you’re interested in collecting their waste vegetable oil. Offer to do it for free.”

We smell and taste an All You Can Eat Oil Club program forming at businesses soon.

“I can’t wait to make it at home,” she said, according to a recent post on Wheeler’s blog, titled, “Erykah Badu plans to “do it” at home with The Vegan Scoop.”

“I heard she was looking for a great vegan ice cream so I shipped her over 15 samples earlier this year,” said chef Wheeler del Torro, author of The Vegan Scoop.

Here Comes The Sun to help hundreds of farm animals.

Jim James, vocalist and guitarist for the band My Morning Jacket, has announced he’s donating a portion of the proceeds from his upcoming George Harrison tribute album to Woodstock Farm Sanctuary.

“I know this is something that George [Harrison] really believed in,” James was quoted as saying. “George was all about treating all creatures equally and eating responsibly.”

James and his hero have more than music in common, as he is a vegetarian like Harrison was.

James is using another name for the record, “Yim Yames,” instead of his real name.

The tribute album comes out later this month, but for now, you can still listen to a sample on Mr. Yim Yames website.

Mariah Carey Not Beefin’ Cause She’s Vegetarian?

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, July 2nd, 2009 in Female Singers, Videos.

**RESTRICTIONS APPLY** Mariah Carey and a stunt double shooting the video for Obsessed in New York City

Mariah Carey’s been filming the video to her new single, “Obsessed,” from the upcoming album, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel.

Some have claimed the lyrics to “Obsessed,” are a knock against Eminem, the rapper she briefly dated long ago.

“Why are you so obsessed with me/ Boy I wanna know/ Lying that you’re sexing me/ When everybody knows/ It’s clear that you’re upset with me.”

But hubby Nick Cannon insists Mariah’s got no time for retorts like that and has no desire to “beef.”

“I don’t think that she would take her time. My wife doesn’t beef. She’s Mariah Carey. She’s not beefin’, she’s a vegetarian.”

For those too lazy to check the urban dictionary, beefin’ is a feud between enemies.

Is Nick joking around to come up with an antonym (saving the big words for the afternoon) for beefin’?

Or has Mariah really embraced the vegetarian life? She’s already given up the fur coat thing.

Watch the behind the scenes video of “Obsessed” and you tell us.

Sarah McLachlan was recently interviewed by Canada CTV news while she was scheduled to perform for the Canada Day festivities.

Sarah had a few choice words to say about the seal hunting industry.

“The commercial sealing industry in Canada is perverse and sick. … They club these seals as early as 12 days old, and half the time they hook them and they drag them across the ice. … It’s archaic, and it’s horrible, and I want it to stop.”

Fashion alert: Notice the baby seal on Sarah’s shirt. This woman knows how to make a statement.

When asked what she thought of Canada’s Governor General Michaelle Jean killing a seal and then eating its raw heart, she expressed interest in having a “talk” with her about it.

Monte Carlo Television Festival 2009 Day 4

“Go vegan! Or at least eat less meat and dairy. For some reason, the eco movement has been slow and a bit wary to talk about this. But it is pretty much the best thing you could do for the environment.”

—-Bones’ actress Emily Deschanel to ecostiletto.com, when asked what her favorite eco friendly tip was that readers should know about.

According to the creators of Meat the Truth, livestock greenhouse gases account for more emissions than those made by every car, train, boat, and plane we get around in.

Ah, yes. Al Gore it’s time to do your thing. Let’s not let the most inconvenient truth of all get in the way of going totally green.
