Quantcast Ginnifer Goodwin

Ginnifer Goodwin "VegNews"

When we first brought you the news of Ginnifer Goodwin turning her back on veganism, it wasn’t the worst day in the world, as she professed to use humane eggs and still appeared to be vegetarian.

However, after viewing the footage from her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel, it appears the former VegNews cover girl–to put it in the words of a hit movie she starred in–is just not that into vegetarianism either.

Goodwin confessed to Kimmel to not just eating eggs, but animal flesh–meatloaf, burgers and salmon.

She may be doing some sort of “vegetarian in the home outside of the home screw it” move, as Goodwin told Kimmel “my house is humane. That makes me feel less hypocritical”

In 2009, she was the ambassador for turkeys. In 2011…we hope she won’t turn into a Gwyneth Paltrow during Thanksgiving.

The video of Ginnifer on Kimmel can be viewed below.

“I would assume that it helps, in that I consider myself an extremely healthy person. But I know that’s sort of contradictory to the fact that you go to the South and all vegetables are deep-fried! I really did go through a period when I was very little when I remember realizing that vegetables did not come out of the ground deep-fried.”

“I changed my eating habits in fourth grade because I was a heavy little girl, and I was unhappy. And I remember my mom making dinner for me the first night that I was on this new program, and I burst out crying because the vegetables were green, and I thought she was trying to starve me to death.”

Ginnifer Goodwin, to CNN on how being from the South affected her learning to live healthy. It’s one thing to know where veggies come from–another to learn how to cook them properly! That’s why we recommend reading Rodale’s 5 Ways to Cook Vegetables without Losing Their Nutrients.

Every animal needs a “whisperer.” Ellen DeGeneres and Ginnifer Goodwin may not know all the inner workings of the turkey mind yet, but theses ladies do know enough about the animals to realize they’re incredible sentient beings who deserve their own Thanksgiving feast and not spread across the table as one.

Ellen is serving as the Adopt-A-Turkey ambassador for Farm Sanctuary’s annual drive that raises money to care for turkeys on the grounds and last year, Miss Goodwin had the privilege of serving as bird publicist.

Ginnifer Goodwin is on the cover of the May/June 2010 issue of VegNews Magazine.

The magazine has titled this issue the “Big Love” one, and not just because of the actress’ hit HBO television series. There is also a section on vegan weddings!

Goodwin discussed the factors that led her to become vegetarian and her work with the Humane Society of the United States as well as that controversial cover shoot for W magazine where she wore leather.

“I had written the magazine, my publicist had talked to the magazine, and there was not going to be a way for me to do that cover without wearing the clothes they needed modeled, which of course made me uncomfortable because I was clad in all leather. I would never do a fashion campaign selling leather. I would never accept money to model leather.”

Goodwin took a lot of criticism from the vegan community for agreeing to do the shoot, which she says, “really did break my heart.”

“I took solace in Rory Freedman, a new friend a the time, who made me feel a lot better about the decision to have taken the cover over not having taken it as an opportunity to talk about the issues.”
