Giving up meat and dairy wasn’t the hardest part, though. The toughest obstacle to overcome was explaining his lifestyle choice to his parents.

“I had to tell my parents I was a vegan, I came out to them,” said Stiller. “They were a little bit confused at first, but now they’re supportive.”

Montell Owens interviewed with ActionNewsJack on his vegan diet.

The Jacksonville Jaguars’ running back is an ambassador for the vegan supplement brand Vega, a company created by vegan triathlete Brendon Brazier. Owens was inspired to go vegan after being introduced to one of Brazier’s books, Thrive, by his wife.

“The first couple of weeks, it was tough. There were some cravings. Your body’s detoxing. It’s used to eating things that are processed, unnatural or that have a lot of harmful by-products,” Owens said.

“Brendan exposed all of what I was lacking in my diet. Obviously I want a competitive advantage. Not only in life, but on the football field,” he continued.

Daniela Sea

Daniela Sea stars in The Casserole Club, a film about a group of 1960s wives who regularly get together to share good recipes and good food.

Daniela’s character Jerome may enjoy whipping up a mean casserole onscreen, but offscreen Daniela says she doesn’t do much cooking.

Except the occasional vegan casserole, of course.

“I’m not a big fan of oven cooking, and the only casserole-ish thing I’ve ever made was vegan gluten-free lasagna: Brown rice noodles, cashew cheese and heirloom tomatoes and garlic sauce,” Daniela told SheWired.

Do we have to be members of the club to get the recipe for that?

Daniela once said in a PETA vegetarian testimonial, “The meat industry doesn’t want you to think about all the animals they are torturing and killing. And they definitely don’t want you to think about all the diseases related to eating meat. Their only concern is making a profit. Along time ago I made a decision to quit eating meat and dairy products…”
