The New York Times writes, “Nice girls don’t drink human blood. But they can still be vampires. Just give them a rat and a straw, and they’re good to go.”

That doesn’t exactly mean the blood is going to taste good, as Alicia Silverstone explained to The Daily Beast, which asked about her experience as a vegan pretending to love flesh in her new film Vamps.

The Big Bang Theory recently featured a few of the characters in a pie-eating contest, including Mayim Bialik‘s Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler.

Bialik took to her blog to discuss the episode and scene, in a post titled, “Top 10 Behind the Scene Moments from Last Night’s Pie Eating Scene.”

The best part of the scene? The pie was vegan and kosher.

The worst? Bialik has horrible blueberry allergies!

Alicia Silverstone is endorsing an eco-friendly sex toy.

The Leaf is a vibrator that resembles the plant it was named after. It gets the Clueless vegan actress’ seal of approval for its Phthalate-free silicone and recycled material packaging.

“OK, ladies – sometimes it’s nice to have a little extra…something…when you’re getting it on (solo, with your partner…whatever floats your boat)” Silverstone said. “There is one personal massager company that’s actually Kinder than all the rest.”

Annie Ilonzeh has gone from being one of Charlie’s Angels to an angel for circus animals.

The actress who stars in the new CW series Arrow, has filmed a PSA for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals on how elephants are treated at some circuses.

“[Elephants] are super-emotional creatures, and to have that calf stripped of their mom by humans and abused is the most painful thing to see,” Annie says. “And I feel like if the public were a lot more knowledgeable about the way that they were being trained, where it’s not on a rewards system, it’s on a punishment system, then circuses would not exist—and they should not exist.”

The app contains videos, recipes and tips for creating some of founder Erin McKenna‘s most popular vegan and mostly gluten-free treats, including cookies, donuts, breads, pies, cupcakes and more.

Juno actress Allison Janney is narrating the first in a series of web-based videos produced by Farm Sanctuary that discuss the rescue and life of a farm animal.

Animal Tales will feature several other celebrities who will tell different animal stories, including Parenthood actor John Corbett, and Spanglish actress Téa Leoni.

Janney’s animal tale features Symphony, a 12-year old chicken rescued from a tornado disaster who now lives her life peacefully on the sanctuary.

“Symphony is very old for a chicken,” Janney says in the video. “Especially for a hen raised in a factory farm.”

Ellen DeGeneres is supporting a new Facebook game that allows users to earn points that go towards animal charities, including Farm Sanctuary, The Humane Society of the United States and The World Wildlife Fund.

Each point or “Joy” earned helps contribute to the many needs each individual organization may have, such as food, shelter, medicine and so forth.

The game sounds like fun because even Ellen’s cat likes to play it. That is, when she can remember the password.
