The New York Times writes, “Nice girls don’t drink human blood. But they can still be vampires. Just give them a rat and a straw, and they’re good to go.”

That doesn’t exactly mean the blood is going to taste good, as Alicia Silverstone explained to The Daily Beast, which asked about her experience as a vegan pretending to love flesh in her new film Vamps.

DB: I know you’re a vegan. What was it like to film that scene where you drink the blood out of a rat with a straw?

Alicia: It was gross more because of the technical aspect of it. The rat is made of this weird, fake stuff, so you have this strange texture of hair, and the blood was this red food dye that tasted so awful! The scene was so funny, though.

Faux meat. Faux cheese. And now, faux blood.

In today’s modern times there’s always a way for a producer to cater to a vegan actor’s needs.
