Jamie Oliver Gets Medieval On French Fries At High School (Video)

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, April 6th, 2010 in Chefs, Children, Food & Drink, Videos.

Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution isn’t converting the Americans to healthier foods like Jamie Oliver did in the UK.

Good old things like American French Fries are getting in the way.

During a recent episode, Jamie is appalled to learn his pasta stir fry with vegetables doesn’t count as a serving of vegetables according to the USDA (the golden standard by which we should all be eating from, of course) guidelines of 1 1/4 cup (even though veggies shrivel after losing their water when cooked) served at lunchtime and is therefore not reimbursable.

However, french fries do.

Jamie says he’s going to “get medieval” on the french fry line (hell, yeah), shuts it down and begins snatching fries off students plate.

Sadly, most of those 1 1/4 cups of fruit and vegetable probably get tossed in the garbage, while the pasta stir fry and other similar dishes eaten on a regular basis would probably be more beneficial to the kids as most studies indicate more nutrients are obtained when the vegetables are actually eaten.

It’s a tough world Jamie has to live in every Sunday evening, but he needs to make the most of what he has.

Cut the frying and serve “french bakes” (sounds less sexier, but still does the trick). Drizzle olive oil over the potato slices and season them with non salt spices like garlic and pepper.

To get really wild, bake sweet potato fries instead.

French bake stir fry, french bake medley, mixed Asian French bakes with dressing and french bake salad are all possibilities when the customers get bored.

There have been a few stories of controversy surrounding parents raising their children on a vegan diet.

The reports highlighted adults who were irresponsible about the decision, instead of researching and feeding their kids well balanced plant meals to keep them healthy.

Thankfully, Heather Mills is casting a much brighter spotlight on vegan children, as she spoke to Extra.

“You educate the moms. It’s very important that the kids get healthy food,” Heather said.

Watch the clip to learn the boards Heather serves on that helps parents feed their kids better food.

The 6th Annual ''Pedigree Adoption Drive' New York

Carrie Underwood has donated $10,000 dollars to the Bideawee Manhattan Animal Shelter in Manhattan, New York.

The shelter was grateful for Underwood’s generous donation, and hopes her fans follow her lead.

“We would hope that Carrie Underwood’s fans, who see that she has a dog already, would be interested in coming to shelter and getting a pet through a shelter as opposed to a pet store or a breeder” said Renee Collins, adoption center manager for Bideawee.

According to Popcrunch, Underwood’s Chihuahua named Ace is set to be the ring bearer in her upcoming wedding.

Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World Trailer Rated V For Vegan Violence

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, March 31st, 2010 in Film & TV, Videos.

The Scott Pilgram vs. the World trailer is out.

The film features Michael Cera‘s character dueling with seven evil ex boyfriends of the girl who’s heart he wants to win.

This classic love story has an even more unusual twist in that one of the exes, Todd Ingram (played by Brandon Routh), is a vegan, which gives him telekinesis powers.

Watch the clip as Ingram throws Pilgrim across a street, smacking him into a building.

This jerky guy even occasionally cheats with dairy.

Some people really need to learn some better conflict/resolution skills.

If you were given superpowers because of your vegan status, you’d surely use them in a more productive, less violent way, like making test tube meat instantly available or turning real meat in faux at the snap of the finger or solving the pet overpopuation crisis.

The vegan violence begins around part 0:48.

A man was arrested after he allegedly used a knife to slash pieces of meat at a grocery store, throwing the packages of beef on the floor before pouring dog food on them.

A call made to 911 in an Edinburg, Indiana store revealed someone saying, “We have a gentleman here cutting into the meat and throwing it onto the floor.”

Anthony Coffman, 28, said he was a vegetarian and it bothered him when people ate meat and he wanted to protect little girls from getting chubby from eating it.

“He told people at the store that God had sent him there to do that. And he was trying to save young girls from the beef,” police chief David Lutz told the media.

A store employee tried to stop Coffman, but gave up after he was threatened.

Joaquin Phoenix Records PETA Video On Exotic Animals In Fashion

Salma Hayek at The 18th Annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar Party in LA

Joaquin Phoenix is back!

After a brief stint as a Rastafarian looking rapper with average rhyming ability, Phoenix has cut his hair, shaved and possibly showered to show his pretty face in a new video for PETA on the use of animal hides in the fashion industry.

“Exotic animals are mostly unknown to us, and so is what they suffer before being turned into belts and bags,” Joaquin says in the video. “Every year millions of reptiles are slaughtered so handbags, belts and shoes can be made from their skin. The animals’ welfare is not a consideration to those who hunt, skin and farm them.”

According to SF Gate, the video will be sent to celebrities who are known for using clothing and accessories made from lizards, snakes and alligators.

“The pancakes are whole-wheat flour and oat bran and almond milk and a little baking soda. I think I added some peaches — whatever I have lying around. In winter it’s only frozen fruit. People who are used to IHOP pancakes — big and fluffy — they would be disappointed. I had an ex-girlfriend; when we were breaking up — one of the few endings of a relationship that was a bit contentious — one of her parting shots was having her tell me she never liked my pancakes. I thought that was very cruel. Insult my sexual prowess, my intellect, but not my pancakes.”

If you promise not to say anything bad about them and send Moby into an ego disaster, grab the recipe and try them out for yourself.
