Gordon Ramsay traveled to Boco Raton, Florida in a recent episode of Kitchen Nightmares to clean up the menu and kitchen at Anna Vincenzo’s Italian restaurant.

As part of the grand reopening of the eatery, Anna Vincenzo’s held a celebrity pizza making contest, where athletes from the Miami Dolphins, Miami Heat and Florida Panthers had to construct the perfect pizza in 3 minutes.

Non meat eating Miami Heat forward James Jones won’t touch the pizza he made for the judges because he put meat on it thinking it would impress them and said he didn’t know what else to put on it, even though tubs of veggies like mushrooms and peppers can be seen in the clip.

Such a shame, considering the vegetarian pizzas on Anna Vincenzo’s menu outnumber the meat ones 5:3!

Guess more Floridians are impressed with meat-free after all.

“Chelsea Lately” Host Chelsea Handler Rips Kelly Bensimon For Fur

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, March 26th, 2010 in Fur, TV Hosts, Videos.

Chelsea Handler is giving Real Housewives of New York City star Kelly Bensimon a piece of her mind many other animal lovers share.

Handler discussed Bensimon’s recent rave about fur, where Bensimon said something to the effect that although she loves animals and never advocates hurting them, she doesn’t see a problem with wearing fur.

She also obviously doesn’t see the contradiction in her statements, but Handler on E! attempted to clear things up for her.

“Really? You don’t abuse animals? I think the chinchilla who just had his hide ripped off might disagree. You think you’re a great fur wearer? You know who wears it better? The innocent animal it came from. This is not a smart move. You just taunted PETA on national television while wearing an unattractive fur vest.”

Ginnifer Goodwin Writes In Protest Of “Happy Cow” CMAB Ads

You’ve seen those commercials for “Happy Cows” sponsored by the California Milk Advisory Board where cows are seen roaming freely in the pasture, females get a chance to gossip while the bulls attempt to speak French in hopes procreating before slaughter time.

Not everyone agrees with the idyllic picture portrayed by the CMAB and Big Love actress Ginnifer Goodwin has written her thoughts to the Federal Trade Commission regarding what animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals says are deceptive practices in these campaigns.

“In show business, we often have good reason for making people believe things that aren’t true, but there is no excuse for the CMAB’s misrepresentation of the milk industry,” writes Goodwin. “[C]onsumers deserve better than to be fed cheerful lies about ‘happy cows.'”

Goodwin goes on to say that the reality is most cows in California are confined in crammed spaces filled with dirt and their own excrement, and suffer udder infections as a result of being forced to produce unnatural amounts of milk induced through administering drugs.

Bob Barker–PETA Most Effective, Productive Animal Group (Video)

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, March 15th, 2010 in Animal Issues, Videos.

Last week, Bob Barker cut the red ribbon at the ceremony to celebrate PETA establishing their Los Angeles location.

Barker donated $2.5 million to help get the building started, and PETA is looking for a few more (million) dollars to create the best environment for their California headquarters.

“I think PETA is the most effective and most productive of all animal rights or animal welfare groups in the world. And no job is too small or too big.”

Sounds like Barker helped make an enormous task more manageable.

Best of luck to PETA in their new home!
