**RESTRICTIONS APPLY** Moby at The Hangover premiere event at Vue cinema in London

“New York is a big, gritty city, but it’s also the easiest place in the world to eat well. Within a 10-minute walk of my studio, there are probably 20 vegetarian restaurants. My favorite is still one of the oldest vegetarian restaurants in New York: Angelica Kitchen, on 12th Street. I’ve probably eaten there 2,000 times in my life. I like the fact that it’s been around for so long; it doesn’t take credit cards and there’s still always a line out the door.”

—-Moby, in a letter explaining why the vegan restaurant, Angelica Kitchen, is one of many reasons he loves New York.

Angelica’s has been feeding veggie New Yorkers since 1976, and features both everyday and special menus filled with delish vegan dishes like the Open Face Tempeh Sandwich, miso soup, noodle dishes and much more.

Potentially being able to spy on Moby makes another great reason to stop by.

Heather Mills is taking over the world!

Well, maybe just focusing on Los Angeles.  And she only wants to dominate what people are eating.

Mills, who just opened her vegan cafe and restaurant V Bites, recently Tweeted about her plans to expand her UK business.

“Once V-Bites is perfected we plan to open them worldwide – we have a few willing franchisees there,” Heather said in response to a Twitter follower who wanted to know if she would open one in the LA area in the U.S.

Heather is claiming that V Bites is quite popular, her customers “loving” the recipes.

From a recent Tweet, we definitely know Silverstein’s Shane Told likes one of Qdoba restaurant’s vegetarian options.

“Qdoba vegetarian tortilla soup… To die for.”

Many vegheads think they have to settle for a coke or french fries when dining with friends at fast food establishments.

Sometimes, even the french fries aren’t safe (remember the McDonald’s beefy fries?).

But alas, options exists, and depending on your standards (vegan, cooked in oil with meat, etc.), you don’t have to go hungry when going to Qdoba, Arby’s, or Burger King.

Vegetarian-restaurants.net has a little handy guide to the veggie menu at several fast food establishments. Of course, suppliers and policies change, even from franchise to franchise, so it’s always best to call and ask ahead.

Happy junk food hunting!

Heather Mills leaves This Morning TV Studios after a cooking demo - London

Okay, so you’re out with friends and everybody’s hungry, but you’ve been trying to figure out where to eat for the past 1/2 hour because you can’t agree on one place.

You want Chinese, your sig other wants Italian, your best friends wants Greek…arghhhh!

Heather Mills has recognized this issue and plans to put at least two dishes from various International cuisine types to make groups of people like you and your friends happy.

“And the evening menu will include two Thai dishes, and two Indian dishes, and two Italian dishes, and so on; because you know what it’s like when you want to go out for dinner with your friends, and one of them wants Italian, and one of them wants Thai, and you want Indian … well, that won’t be a problem here, will it?” Heather said, in an interview with the UK Guardian about her new vegan restaurant, V Bites.

Problem solved for where to eat. You can even plan ahead by reading the V Bites menu before you go.

Now, if Heather can resolve the argument of paying separately or paying with one check.

MLB-Home Run Derby

After Milwaukee Brewer’s first baseman Prince Fielder won the Home Derby Competition, a mobile pizza truck that sells pizza by the slice in Milwaukee, Street-za, made a special pizza to honor the hometown hero.

There’s just one problem.

Prince Fielder is a vegetarian and that pizza ain’t nowhere near veggie.

Here are the toppings for the Streetza Brew Crew Sausage Race:

Italian sausage, bratwurst, chorizo, Polish sausage and hot dogs.

Vendor dudes could have at least did a little bit of research before whipping that up. A pizza slice abundant with veggies or even multiple varieties of cheese would have been better.

The perfect slice, of course, would be one topped with faux sausage, bratwurst, chorizo, and hot dogs, as it would be the perfect opportunity to show fans what Prince is getting and what they’re missing on a regular basis.

Sigh. Opportunity missed.

Gotta give the Street-za guys credit for putting a vegan pizza on the menu, though, with the description, “Hopefully we aren’t banished from Wisconsin for this pizza. A Cheese-less pizza with our tomato sauce, fresh spinach, eggplant, onions, & cajun spiced potatoes. How can a pizza be good with no cheese? It is. Trust us.”

As if you really need another reason to enter our contest to win a copy of Erin McKenna’s BabyCakes cookbook as part of our one year anniversary giveaway. Isn’t the picture of the cupcakes on the book cover enough?

The lovely lady who founded the New York city bakery that is so popular among celebrities and mere non Hollywood mortals like ourselves answered a few of our questions about herself, the bakery, and some of her favorite recipes from her recently published cookbook, BabyCakes : Vegan, Gluten-Free, and (Mostly) Sugar-Free Recipes from New York’s Most Talked-About Bakery.

How did you determine which of your recipes to include in the BabyCakes cookbook?
I chose the recipes that people seemed to favor. I wanted to offer a collection of the greatest recipes.

What are a few of your favorite recipes from the cookbook?
I think my favorites are the volcanoes and the macaroons for sure.

You used to work in fashion and you said the one thing that really relieved stress at the end of the day was experimenting with baking and that prompted you to change careers. What advice do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs who may still be stuck in a day job and want to get out and have a successful business?
I would tell them to live fearlessly and go for what is in their heart. It will work out and nothing beats doing what you love for a living. It’s what life is about.

There are several celebrities that have their personal stories in the Baby Cakes cookbook like Natalie Portman and Pamela Anderson? What was either your first or most memorable experience learning a celebrity was so fond of your desserts?
The first time a celebrity made it known how fond he was of BabyCakes was Jason Schwartzman. He came in once by himself the first time and then brought a whole gang of friends with him and had an eating contest in here. He was going crazy over everything–it was really fun!

Guess how many siblings Erin has? Four, five, six, seven? Higher than that! Find out after the jump… (more…)
