Pink’s Ex-Hubby Carey Hart Gets Inked Not Minked

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, February 4th, 2009 in Athletes-Games-Sports, Business, Fur, Reality TV.

careyhartpetafur721Ladies we know you don’t get enough of your naked men from PETA, but here’s a little something to satisfy.

Carey Hart, ex-husband to singer Pink, has recently teamed up with PETA to raise awareness of using fur in fashion by inviting you to consider wearing your own permanent coat-of tattoos.

“No one’s expecting you to be the perfect citizen…just living consciously [as much as you can].”

Hart got into animal rights through Pink, and the two of them own three dogs.

“It’s just ridiculous, you know?” he says of the fur industry. “It’s like you’re gonna destroy animals so that you can look cool in the nightclubs or you can look cool walking down the street in New York. You know I don’t get behind that. I think it’s very petty and very shallow. And then once I saw the investigation and the actual process it just disgusted me.”

You can view the video of Hart talking more about animals, fur, and looking hot at peta.org.

“Eating a RAW food lifestyle is the purest and best way to live. Many of the strongest and longest living animals are raw, such as the panda bear and gorillas.”

“Self love has brought me to a RAW lifestyle. Feeding my body with pure natural energy. One of the most important things I learned was how to empty my mind of the thoughts of my past and live in this present moment.”

—Eric Nies, in an interview with Girlie Girl Army on the raw vegan diet and lifestyle. Nies, a member of Vh1’s Confessions of a Teen Idol cast, who became known for being a house mate on the original “MTV Real World”, follows a raw vegan diet.

Kim Kardashian Gives Up Fur, Keeps Reggie Bush Lovin’

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, January 30th, 2009 in Fur, Reality TV.

2009 Moves Magazine Super Bowl Party

If you’ve got a good man, then you’d better bend over backwards to keep him. Especially if you’re in female shark Hollywood and Kim Kardashian learned this lesson real quick.

She’s become the latest celebrity to announce she’s shunning fur, according to Contact Music. Why? If you recall us telling you, her sister Khloe has done the same, posing naked in an anti-fur ad for PETA. It’s important to keep up with the Kardashians, you know.

An even bigger reason is that her boyfriend, New Orlean’s Saints running back Reggie Bush, threatened to dump her if she didn’t. Apparently the two were driving past an anti-fur rally at the Sundance Film Festival when they were bombarded by activists, screaming, “She’s in here!”

Bush said, “This is humiliating. I can’t go out with you.”

So Kim ditched the fur vest and kept her man.

Kim keeps gettin’ lovin’. Less animals are dying. You couldn’t ask for a happier ending.

We featured a post earlier today on “Real Housewives” star Bethenny Frankel teaming up with Pepperage Farm foods to reinvent traditional party dips to healthier versions.

Here’s a video of Bethenny talking about two of the dips, Hummus and Blue Cheese. The secret ingredient to the hummus dip? Soy sauce!

Thanks to Scott for the heads up on the tip!

Bethenny Frankel Serves Up Hummus With Pepperidge Farm

15th Annual

Bethenny Frankel, celebrity natural food chef and star of Bravo Network’s, “The Real Housewives of New York City,” has teamed up with Pepperidge Farms to encourage football fanatics to have healthy, wholesome snacks on game day.

Too bad they won’t get to watch the veggie porn ad as well.

Frankel, although not known as a vegetarian, has long been an advocate for healthier eating choices and started Bethenny Bakes, a company that offers egg and dairy free baked goods and custom tailored meals for clients with special diets, such as vegan.

One of the recipes she’s offered for Game Day is a vegan Lemon Basil Hummus Dip served with Pepperidge Farm® Baked Naturals Toasted Wheat Crisps.

It’s great that Bethenny has chosen to make a traditionally vegetarian dish mainstream by suggesting it as Super Bowl grub.

Now maybe more husky, burly men will include chickpeas on the shopping list with Coors beer during the next big sports night.

Eric Nies Confessed To Fasting For 40 Days

We’ve seen what can happen on reality TV when a vegetarian or vegan contestant can’t get the food they need for their diet.

But if anything like that happens on Vh1’s “Confessions of a Teen Idol”, vegan Eric Nies might not have a problem going hungry. It’s not like he hasn’t done it before.

The original MTV “Real World” star, who is now a life coach, once fasted for 40 days to raise awareness about obesity and world hunger, according to the Purium Health Products website.

Technically, it wasn’t complete fasting as he drank three to four energy drinks but abstained from solid foods.

Here’s a video of Eric and other former teen idols with clips from Vh1’s “Confessions of a Teen Idol.”

Celebrity Big Brother contestants

Many of us are pinching pennies in the recession and the contestants of Celebrity Big Brother 6  are no exception.

The group, which includes notables like La Toya Jackson and Verne Troyer, were recently faced with buying groceries on a reduced budget and were arguing over what foods should be put on the shopping list.

Ulrika Jonsson suggested talking La Toya into compromising and eating some tuna and salmon because it’s cheaper.

Troyer protests that La Toya isn’t trying to be difficult in her eating choices, but that she’s vegetarian and they shouldn’t force her to eat meat.

Apparently, she’s been doing it anyway.

Jonsson later told other house mates that “Verne was so quick to stand up for La Toya and make the point that she is a vegetarian, has a strict diet and needs her salmon,” she said.

“But, well, vegetarians aren’t supposed to eat fish in the first place, and La Toya even ate turkey mince yesterday.”

You’d think that La Toya could have the rules bent and bring in her own food in order to stick with her diet.

But as we learned with the Amazing Race, Reality TV ain’t always pretty to those who aren’t omnivores.

Daisy Of Love Contestant Brian Magee Vegan, Straight-Edge

The Fox Reality Channel Really Awards - Arrivals

For everyone who couldn’t get enough of senior citizen Bret Michaels trying to act like it’s the 80s again in Rock of Love, here’s your chance to watch the female version of it.

Daisy de la Hoya, contestant on “Rock of Love 2”, has her own reality TV show on Vh1, Daisy of Love, where men will line up drooling over her goodies.

One contestant, Brian Magee of Syracuse, is already getting his 15 minutes of fame before even moving into the house this spring to win a chance to love on darling Daisy.

When he spoke to BuddyTV, he said he thinks being vegan and straight-edge sets him apart from the other guys. Then, again, he’s not that worried about standing out because Daisy could be a dingy. A real hot dingy.

“I don’t know. I don’t know her and she doesn’t know me. She could be the coolest person I’ve ever met or I might not be able to stand anything she says.”

He is hoping their shared love of music could bring them together.

Even though his diet and lifestyle might single him out, underneath that he’s just like any other guy, he insists. Especially any other reality TV guy.

“I’ve always been outrageous, out of control, loud and obnoxious. All the things that you expect from someone on reality TV.”
