The Greatest Fashion Show On Earth Launch Party

George Lamb, British radio and television personality, has gone vegetarian after slaughtering a goat for television.

According to The Sun, George and his father Larry Lamb were filming with an African tribe for the ITV2 series The Parent Trip, and the goat slaughter was a big event for the day.

Since George and Larry were guests of the chief, it was considered an honor to have the goat slaughtered.

George went along with it because he didn’t want to offend his hosts.

George had to kill the goat with a pen knife and eat it live.

“It was horrible. When you hold the animal and feel the life go out of it, it’s a real eye-opener.”

George has yet to touch a piece of meat since filming wrapped up last November.

“It’s made me see it in a different light – the process of how a piece of meat ends up in a supermarket.”

World Premiere of Julie & Julia

Anthony Bourdain and Eric Ripert hosted Jonathan Safran Foer on Turn and Burn, a 5 week series discussing food, food ethics and featuring celebrity chefs.

Bourdain and Foer got into the issue of the ethics of eating meat.

While Foer suggested people should at least stop eating meat from factory farmed animals, Bourdain suggested that option isn’t available to everyone.

Safran Foer: “I’m not forcing you to give it up completely, I’m not saying I’m better than you. I’m just saying we have this industry that’s a real problem. Everyone should give up factory-farmed meat — I think that’s something we really should agree on even if we disagree on how possible it is.”

Bourdain: “Everyone who can should give up factory-farmed meat. Let’s face it, most people can’t. They’re lined up outside Popeye’s fried chicken in the Mission District right now for 45 minutes waiting for their $1.99 chicken not because it’s good, but because it’s cheap.”

Ripert: “It’s cheaper than to eat beans at home?”

Bourdain: “Yeah, but come on, try to get some fresh vegetables in inner-city Baltimore.”

What’s your take on the situation?

Is it feasible for everyone to a eat fresh, organic, plant based diet?

Rush Limbaugh Too Liberal–Dr. Neal Barnard On Diet

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, February 11th, 2010 in Food & Drink, Nutrition-Health-Fitness, Radio Hosts.

Dr. Neal Barnard

Dr. Neal Barnard

Back in December, Rush Limbaugh received a vegetarian care package from the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) after he was hospitalized for chest pains.

If Rush hadn’t been such a filthy dirty liberal, he would have never landed there.

That’s right, Rush is about as loose as Howard Stern…when it comes to diet.

In an article from CrazySexyLife, Dr. Neal Barnard, president of PCRM says Rush and everyone else needs to be more conservative–or face dire health consequences.

“As a doctor, I’m offering one bit of advice, not just to Rush, but to all Americans: We need to be more conservative. As conservative as possible, in fact.”

“Indeed, people who stick to an entirely plant-based diet, as part of an overall healthy lifestyle, can do more than just prevent heart disease; they can actually reverse it, as was demonstrated in the now-classic studies of Dean Ornish, M.D.”

“The only good thing about a health scare is that it reminds us how important our diets and lifestyles are to our well-beings. It’s time to trade our cheeseburgers for veggie burgers, beef tacos for bean burritos, and remote controls for tennis shoes. Yes, that’s my prescription for Rush—but it’s also my prescription for us all.”

Sounds like a radio talk show to tune in to.

2008 American Music Awards - Arrivals

Nikki Sixx, the founder, bassist and songwriter from the 80s metal band Motley Crue, has launched an entertainment show into national syndication, Sixx Sense.

According to a press release, Sixx will discuss, “music and lifestyle topics as he gives listeners a backstage look at the world and mind of a rock star.”

At 51, Sixx is kinda old. Does even qualify to comment on the life of a rock star?

At any rate, he will co-host the show with Kerri Kasem, daughter of radio personality Casey Kasem.

In an interview with USA Today, Sixx described how he and Sherri differ.

“We were talking about a band that was honored by PETA. And Kerri was excited about that because she’s a vegan. And she had to make sure I knew that I would never get that honor. She was like, “You collect dead things.” I have taxidermy everywhere and I wear leather. Also, she’s into Japanese bikes and I’m into Harley-Davidsons.”

So far Sixx has interviews lined up with George Lopez, Ozzy Osbourne and Dog The Bounty Hunter.

Any chance of getting a vegetarian on the show to introduce Sixx to coffee with soy creamer and vegan donuts?

Sixx Sense with Nikki Sense can be heard Monday through Friday, 7PM-midnight on over 30 rock and alternative radio stations.

Radio host and vegetarian Jackie O is starring in this PSA educating people about pig factory farms for Animals Australia.

Animals Australia has launched its first ever TV commercial which is currently airing down under.

The commercial intends to show readers the connection between the plastic wrapped pork they pick up in the supermarket and the animals that are confined in cages during their lifetime before slaughter.

“Australia is often called the lucky country,” Jackie says. “We have a quality of life that is always the envy of people around the world. But this should be the lucky country for animals as well. I was horrified to learn that despite improvements overseas, here in Australia, there are still over 200,000 mother pigs and 11 million battery hens who endure lives of sheer misery in factory farms.”

Fearne Cotton wraps warm up in a leopard print coat as she arrives at the Radio One studios in London

Fearne Cotton walked into the Radio One Studios recently wearing this leopard print coat.

Sure, it’s probably cold in London, but we seriously doubt vegetarian Fearne is wearing real fur.

Or is she?

She admitted to indulging in Mulberry handbags that come in all sorts of leather varieties.

What do you think?

Is Fearne fur real or fur fake?
