The right way isn’t substituting cheese sandwiches three times a day for burgers. And it’s not always about the veggies.

Dr. Oz suggests watching carbohydrates and incorporating lean, plant-based protein.

“I don’t want you to become a carbotarian,” Oz says.

The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine is asking the White House to ban photo ops of President Obama, Vice President Biden and other Executive staff members eating meat dishes such as burgers and hot dogs.

Such products are linked to diseases like obesity and cancer and the group compares these photographs to advertisements promoting other unhealthy habits, such as smoking.

Jamie Oliver set up mobile kitchens and invited entire cities to learn Food Network worthy cooking techniques on his ABC television series that aimed to improve the health of America, Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution.

Now he’s encouraging everyone else to do the same through his national Food Revolution Day taking place May 19.

Whether it’s through hosting a dinner party or attending a registered food event, the goal of this holiday is to celebrate healthier, less-processed food and fight food related diseases like obesity.

Bill Clinton appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show where he revealed what he felt were some of his greatest accomplishments, such as the William J. Clinton Foundation’s push to provide medication to children in impoverished countries.

Clinton’s greatest personal health accomplishment is adopting a vegan diet after learning it could help him reverse some of the damage heart disease has caused.

It’s also helped him look a little sleeker in his swim trunks.

“This is the third week in a row where I will weigh less than I did when I finished high school,” Clinton said.

Deepak Chopra

Deepak Chopra was the honorary speaker at a National Press Club Luncheon. According to The Telegraph, it was the first Press Club luncheon that served an entirely vegetarian menu.

Chopra discussed several topics on the forefront of health, including insurance, aging, PET scans and pharmaceutical companies.

“Your health depends on you, not on the government, and not on insurance companies,” Chopra said.

The physician and spiritual guide believes optimum health is obtained through a vegetarian diet and will only serve such food at his seminars.

On a recent blog post, Chopra gave advice to someone looking to give up meat.
