Dr. Oz has always welcomed vegan topics on his daytime television show, and next week on October 28, Oz will invite author, dietitian and Forks Over Knives consultant Julieanna Hever to discuss the benefits of a plant-based diet, as well as demonstrate several recipes from her book, The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Plant-Based Nutrition.

According to the site from the publisher of her book, Hever will show the audience how to make the It’s Easy Being Green Smoothie, Noritos and Beans and Greens Chili.

Below is Hever demonstrating making Noritos, which are burritos made with seaweed wrap. Hever makes a Mediterranen, Japanese and Mexican version of this burrito twist.

Dr. Oz Suggests A Veggie Burgers Taste Test

Dr. Oz and his health column partner Dr. Mike Roizen are dishing out some good advice for a family that wants to trim the animal fat from its diet.

A husband asks Oz and Roizen:

“Both my wife and I work late, so we often stop at fast-food places for our family dinners. We want to change this, but how will we get the kids to eat anything else now that they’re used to burgers and fries all of the time?”

Mark Bittman “How To Cook Everything Vegetarian” App On iTunes

After the successful launch of the How To Cook Everything app, Mark Bittman has released a similar app based on his completely meatless cookbook, How To Cook Everything Vegetarian.

Bittman is not only an established cookbook author, he’s also is a regular columinst for the New York Times who uses his platform to discuss issues on sustainable food, environment, health and animal welfare.

Dr. Oz Nutrition Plan To Save Your Life

The Doctor Oz Show recently added an article on veganism to its website, just shortly before airing an episode devoted entirely to the diet.

In “The Nutrition Plan That Will Save Your Life,” three changes are advocated for preventing and reversing heart disease and reducing the risk of cancer.

On Wednesday, April 27, Dr. Oz will share the stage with several other doctors–all known for advocating a vegan diet for good health.

Joining Oz for his special vegan episode will be Dr. T. Colin Campbell, Caldwell Esselstyn, MD, and Neal Barnard, MD. Rip Esselstyn, son of Dr. Esselstyn, author of The Engine 2 Diet and firefighter who convinced his station to go vegan to solve many of their health problems, will also be present.

Two years ago, Oz featured a meat-loving cowboy named Rocco who embarked on a 28-day vegan diet. Rocco lost 6 inches from his waist, reduced his blood sugar from dangerously high to almost completely normal and raised his good HDL cholesterol levels.

Dr. Mehmet Oz

Dr. Oz already knows his audience prefers the taste of organic produce to conventional.

So it’s no surprise that on a recent episode of his daytime talk show, Oz gave some tips to audience members on how to save big money and even get free organic goodies!

When Dr. Oz celebrated his 100th episode of “The Dr. Oz Show,” he shared the recipe for his Green Drink.

It’s a low-calorie breakfast drink that combines fruits and vegetables and only requires a simple blender–not a high end juicer–to create.

Dr. Oz tackled the subject of genetically modified foods on a recent episode of his daytime talk show and invited three guests to join him on the debate, Jeffrey Smith, non-GM advocate and author of Seeds of Deception, Michael Hansen PhD of Consumer’s Union and Pamela C. Ronald PhD, genetic scientist and author of Tomorrow’s Table, who insists there is no scientific evidence that GM foods are harmful. A study looking at GM soy and sterility and mortality in hamsters may have you disagreeing with Ronald, though.

A quick poll of Oz’s audience reveled 80% of them preferred not to purchase genetically modified food and when it came down to a taste test between the two, all but one organic product was chosen over the conventional variety.
