Kimberly Wyatt

Former Pussycat Dolls member Kimberly Wyatt has joined a group of celebrities and cosmetics companies that do not test on animals in a campaign with the British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection (BUAV) to end the sale of cosmetics in the European Union that have been tested on animals.

In 2003, the European Union passed a ban on using animals to test cosmetics that began in 2009. A complete ban of the sales of these animal-tested cosmetics is set for 2013, but some officials would like to extend that deadline.

Wyatt also has her own make-up range that is not tested on animals.

“My make-up range BM Beauty is approved free from animal testing by BUAV proving that there is no need to test beauty products on animals. Don’t delay the ban on selling cruel beauty products in the EU any longer. Say NO to Cruel Cosmetics.”

Rihanna Reb'l Fleur

Pop star Rihanna has partnered with Parlux Fragrances to unveil a scent with her name behind the brand, Reb’l Fleur.

According to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, Parlux signed a statement in 1995 that it would not conduct or pay others to conduct tests on animals. Some animal tests, such as the Draize eye test, which involves smearing a substance in rabbit’s eye, obviously involve pain to the animal. And in some cases, results aren’t predictive of what can happen in human tissue.

Reb’l Fleur comes in Eau de Parfum sprays and body lotion.

Carrie Underwood Stays Out Of Others’ Meat Business

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, January 10th, 2011 in Female Singers, Food & Drink.

If you’re uneasy about cooking meat for your friends and family because of your vegetarian ethics, just tell them if they pressure you into cooking for them, you’ll kill them.

Not with the butcher knife, but with e. coli and salmonella and all other conditions you can get from eating under cooked meat (heck, even cooked meat still carries those buggers around).

That’s what Carrie Underwood tells her meat eating family when it’s time to gather in the kitchen.

Brandy Norwood

Brandy Norwood (singer Brandy) has been rumored to be vegetarian, but according to a feature in US Magazine on celebrity New Year’s resolutions, Brandy is thinking of taking her diet a step further and give up eggs and dairy. Again.

“Just being healthier,” Brandy said. “I’m going to try to go back to being a vegan.”

Sounds as if she’s been down this path before.

If a diet change involving animal products is your New Year’s resolution, you may want to do it, excuse the pun, “cold turkey,” according to Reid Hester, director of research at Behavior Therapy Associates.

The Veronicas

Jess Origliasso celebrated a birthday on Christmas. Did this mean double presents? Or double the number of yummy, tasty veggie tacos?

One-half of the pop duo The Veronicas, Jess is seen is these videos demonstrating how to make her almost vegan tacos and guacamole dip.

Jess calls them vegan, but like many people, probably isn’t aware that the brand of faux cheese she’s using contains casein, a milk protein often added to soy and other imitation cheeses. A simple switch to a truly vegan cheese like Teese or Daiya will give you the genuine vegan touch.

The Veronicas are often on the road and because of this, they can’t always access an oven. This is why Jess chose refried beans instead of faux meat because she prefers to fry imitation meats in a saucepan. Taco shells can be microwaved too.

“About 45 seconds if you put all of them in,” Jess says, referring to the length of time it takes to warm an entire box of shells.

These tacos get the approval of “Slim Dusty,” a meat-eating, cow farm owner who chose to hide his identity. Watch the videos below for full instructions for making the veggie tacos and guacamole and tell us if they get your approval as well.

Kesha Holiday Greetings In Faux Fur (Video)

Written by Vegetarian Star on Sunday, December 26th, 2010 in Fashion, Female Singers, Videos.

We may be posting Ke$ha‘s Holiday Greetings a day later, but the message she’s wearing is timeless.

It’s cold outside and symbol girl is looking kind of furry, but don’t fret. The vegetarian singer has said before she always fakes it for the camera.

“If you see me in fur, it’s always fake,” Kesha said.

While we’re not worried about Kesha’s fur coat, we are, however, concerned for the person in the background exposing his bare buns to relieve himself in the snow. After all, it’s freezing outside. The wind must be unbearable. Even worse, he’s wearing a fur coat but has not publicly declared himself real fur-free.

Take advantage of the after Christmas sales now and purchase your faux fur items from trusted sources like Donna Salyer’s Fabulous Furs.
