The vegan “must have” item list is here!

W Magazine has compiled a slideshow of accessories every vegan and animal lover should check off on their next shopping trip.

The Matt & Nat handbags like the one shown here are a favorite of Ellen DeGeneres and that darn veggie diva Jorja Fox even has several bags named after her!

Besides the handbag, there’s a vegan shoe by Elizabeth Olsen and Vivienne Westwood shoes made from sustainable plastic.

Our favorite guilty vegan accessory: Erin McKenna’s vegan sweets cookbook, containing many recipes used in her New York vegan bakery, Baby Cakes.

Uh-oh, did someone say vegan sweets? Dr. Ian Smith…help!

Gwyneth Paltrow’s Feet Reek Of Animal Flesh

Premiere of Valentino: The Last Emperor - Los Angeles

This is a picture of Gwyneth’s Paltrow’s feet. No, we’re not weirdos with fetishes, we just want to make sure you get a good look before putting the notebook paper in a wad to throw at her.

We have learned through Deceiver.com that Gwyneth wore these when she recently attended the premiere of the documentary, Valentino: The Last Emperor, in Los Angeles. These are suede Christian Louboutin “Ariella Talon” ankle boots with multi-strapped leather buckles.

LA Premiere Of Valentino: The Last Emperor

Yet another fashion faux pas from the actress who has her apologies memorized when it’s time to explain why she often publicly claims to be vegetarian, then is spotted getting cozy with another animal’s skin.

Should we send vegan shoe designer Elizabeth Olsen to knock on Gwyneth’s door? Or just find a really skilled pitcher to throw a pair or two at her?

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, April 2nd, 2009 in Fashion, Videos.

Ladies we all have a girlfriend we know who owns shoe pairs in the triple digits. Sometimes, depending on the person we’re talking to, we admit that “girlfriend” is us.

But while we’re buying out the discount rack at Payless, are we paying our dues to the environment and animals?

Elizabeth Olsen, creator of Olsen Haus vegan shoes, spoke with bloggers Joshua Katcher, aka, Discerning Brute, and Chloe Jo Berman from the Girlie Girl Army on all things vegan shoe fetish.

And dudes: this is for you too. Elizabeth has some manly vegan shoes in the wings which she hopes to launch in the fall of this year.

Elizabeth has been a vegan herself for the past 2 years and hasn’t eaten meat in 20!

Stella McCartney Is A Force For Nature At NRDC Event

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, April 1st, 2009 in Environment-Eco-Green, Fashion.

Natural Resources Defense Council 11th Annual Forces For Nature Benefit

Stella McCartney was honored by the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) recently at its Forces For Nature gala.

The environmental group honored both the vegetarian fashion designer who refuses to use leather in her products, as well as Discovery Channel chief David Zaslav.

Attendees at the event were entertained by comedians and dined on a vegetarian meal.

Stella’s proud papa, Paul McCartney was there with girlfriend Nancy Shevell.

“A love of nature has been instilled in [Stella] as she grew up,” Paul said. “But I don’t want to take any credit. She’s a smart girl. When she came in to the fashion industry, she came in to Gucci, which is leather city. I was really wondering how long it would be before she’d have to cave in to the economic pressures, but she just hung in there.”

Other celebrity attendees included Tom and Kathy Freston, Barry Diller, Diane von Furstenberg, Graydon and Anna Carter, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Ron Perelman, Zhang Ziyi and host Alec Baldwin.

Stella’s fashion line is quite successful, and the fact that more environmentally friendly attire is making its way into women’s closets is a bonus. And that’s just how Stella prefers it.

“I don’t want people to buy my stuff because they know it’s not leather,” she said with a smile. “I just want them to want the boots.”

Pamela Anderson, Richie Rich Do Cruelty-Free Muse Fashion Line

Richie Rich - Runway - Fall 09 MBFW

Pamela Anderson’s dreamed up cruelty-free fashion line is almost here!

Anderson has teamed up with fashion designer Richie Rich to create a line of environmentally friendly and animal-free shoes and casual clothing that includes hooded tops, skirts, and swimwear as part of a special line of the Muse brand.

If Pamela had it her way, she wouldn’t wear any clothing.  Luckily, she thought of the rest of us who can’t prance around naked at work all day and is making it easier to have an ethical closet.

“I really don’t like to wear clothes,” Pamela said. “I would rather go naked. But I love Richie’s designs, so I agreed to be part of Muse.”

Richie Rich, part of fashion duo Heatherette, said of Pamela, “Pam is an outdoorsy and summer kind of girl who I have been friends with forever. We share the same wild and crazy aesthetic. And she has long been my inspiration. Even though Pam prefers not to wear clothes, she looks great in sexy dresses. She reminds me of Marilyn Monroe and Brigitte Bardot.”

Pamela expressed interest in having her own shoe line after learning her favorite pair of boots, Ugg boots, were made of sheepskin.

The new cruelty-free Muse line is set to debut this summer.

Lauren Bush Debuts New Eco-Friendly Fashion Line, Lauren Pierce

The Cinema Society Hosts A Screening Of The Great Buck Howard - Inside

Lauren Bush, who some have called the “green sheep” of the Bush monarchy, recently debuted her eco-friendly fashion line, Lauren Pierce.

The Lauren Pierce line offers dresses, blouses, and shorts made from hemp silk and bamboo, crafted by women in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Africa.

It was Lauren’s decision to name the line after her middle name, which also happens to be her grandmother’s maiden name and her younger brother’s name.

She insists it only makes her more “incognito,” and in no way meant to downplay her association with the Bush name.

Lauren, who admits she has an eco-sin of loving too many magazines, is the CEO, Creative Director and co-Founder of FEED Projects LLC. She designed FEED t-shirts and bags, whose profits help support the UN World Food Programme in feeding hungry children.

Celebrities Attend 7th ELLE Awards

There’s nothing better than a celebrity chef who snitches.

From former White House chef Walter Scheib giving the dirt on how Chelsea Clinton went vegan to Aaron Ash, the now owner of a raw vegan foods restaurant telling how he gave Mike D of the Beastie Boys what he wanted, we love hearing from those who have spent time in some of the most private areas of a star’s life-their diet.

Eric Ienco has cooked for celebs such as Madonna, Sting’s wife Trudie Styler, Christie Turlington, and ethical fashion designer Stella McCartney.

Apparently, Stella can’t get enough of this guy’s soup.

From Roundtownnews.co.uk:

“She’s a vegetarian, through and through. I think Stella likes plain and simple home-cooked foods. I think her mum must have raised her this way – Linda was a veggie too. Stella isn’t picky but she’s very enthusiastic about my soup! I like her; she’s a good soul.”

Meatless Mouthful: Stella McCartney On Responsible Fashion

Stella McCartney Store - Christmas Lights Switched On

“I was brought up that way, so it kind of came very naturally to me. I was brought up on an organic farm in the countryside and the whole family was vegetarian. So it sort of came without thinking. But then when it came to my having a career, starting a job and starting a brand in fashion, I guess it wouldn’t have sat comfortably with me to be hypocritical. I guess that was the starting point. The seeds were already sown in my personal life, and then they came into my business life.”
—-Designer and daughter of Paul McCartney, Stella McCartney, on what led to her starting an ethical fashion line. Stella refuses to use fur or leather and became quite angry when a company once put a fur coat on a model wearing a piece from her lingerie set.
