Stephen Glover–Steve-O–Campus Talk Magazine 2009

Stephen Glover "Steve-O" Court Appearance

Stephen Glover, aka Steve-O “Jackass” is featured in the latest edition of Campus Talk magazine.

It may as well been called the Stephen Glover Veggie Files, because Steve’s interview is all about his vegetarianism.

Now that’s what we call an education.

Here are a few excerpts:

On Eating Meat and the afterlife:
In 2008 I came across a YouTube video that basically scared me into believing I was going to go to Hell if I kept eating meat. After that I became a pescetarian and the only meat I ate was fish. I figured if Jesus was down with eating fish then I could too. I’ve since become completely vegan.

On Not So Animal Friendly television stunts:
I remember PETA having an issue with the first stunt I ever did for Jackass where I swallowed the Goldfish and then puked it back up. There were actually a few situations on Wildboys that compromised my morals but for the most part we made sure Wildboys was a very animal-friendly show.

TMI about that Cruelty Doesn’t Fly Video:
The commercial for the fur campaign was really a lot of fun. Not many people can say they’ve been stripped searched by Pamela Anderson. The crazy thing is when we were shooting I had a big poop stain on my underwear which was kind of embarrassing.

Oh, Steve. You could have spared that last bit of information.

“Bones” “The Tough Man In The Tender Chicken” (Video)

Written by Vegetarian Star on Sunday, November 8th, 2009 in Animal Issues, Film & TV, Videos.

The recent episode of Bones that highlighted animal rights issues, The Tough Man In The Tender Chicken, contained both serious discussion and humor.

The story centered around the murder of a farmer set to inherit a factory farm.

During the episode, activities that take place in a poultry plant were shown, including the crowding of the animals and debeaking (ouch) that occurs in newborn chicks.

If you missed the episode, take a look now!

One Republic front man Ryan Tedder would like to teach you a little bit about birth control.

Don’t worry, this talk shouldn’t be as embarrassing as the one mom and dad had with you because it only involves your four legged children.

“I was shocked to find out that 6-8 million animals are dumped in overcrowded shelters each year,” Tedder says.  “And half of them are euthanized because there aren’t enough good homes.”

Take Ryan’s advice and get your next pet from a shelter before it’s too late to apologize to the 3-4 million animals that never find homes.

Don’t forget to spay and neuter.

Jillian Michaels is quite the multi-promoter.

The Biggest Loser coach was spotted sporting a PETA Fight Breedism t-shirt.

What’s even more cool is that Jillian is standing in front of a Subway restaurant–and highlighting healthier alternatives to fast food.

Jillian is almost veg–saying she consumes some fish here and there.

We’re crossing our fingers she’ll follow the lead of Biggest Loser co-star Bob Harper and go veg completely one day.

It’s no secret Silverstein and PETA are buddies.

Not only have the guys participated in PSAs for the animal rights group, they also threw down an eating challenge with KFC’s vegan faux chicken sandwiches when the restaurant first offered them.

Band member Shane Told recently explained to bringbacktheboombox.com how he and the other Silverstein musicians got acquainted with PETA.

“Our whole band is vegetarian. We just happen to all be vegetarians. We didn’t come together, it just happened. It wasn’t something that our band was fueled by; it was just something that we all had in common. I was talking to PETA while they were at a show and I mentioned that we were all vegetarians, they thought that was very rare. They really wanted to work with us so they contacted us. They wanted us to get involved. We don’t mind spreading the word, it’s important to have a table with some information at the shows. That’s how I learned about it originally from going to hard-core shows and seeing their table that explains about fur and vegetarianism, helping people understand it. That’s how it came about.”

Boy meets AR group. They hit it off on the first date. They agree to continue seeing each other.

Yeah, it’s a pretty classic story.

Perez Hilton PETA–Loud And Obnoxious Meets Loud And Obnoxious

Perez Hilton "Save The Seals"

Perez Hilton "Save The Seals"

Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton is one several stars posing in a PETA Save The Seals campaign.

Perez has voiced his opinions on the animal rights group before, saying although he didn’t agree with everything it stood for, he still found common ground. “I don’t support PETA—I support some of the things that PETA does. I support that they’re kind of like me, in that they’re loud and sometimes obnoxious. Underneath that, a lot of the things they do and other things I don’t agree with.”

Good to know Perez supports ending seal hunts.

“I don’t understand why they have to commit this act of brutality and barbarity,” Perez said. “It’s not necessary.”

There’s no better way to get loud and obnoxious, Perez.

BTW, Perez is looking better than ever, having slimmed down thanks to some better eating and exercise sessions.

Has this dude been stocking up on his veggies, too?
