Mary McCartney has an interview with AM New York that covers her latest cookbook, Food, as well as her inspiration for behind the vegetarian meals she creates.

Many were taught the basics of cooking from mom, but Mary insists her father and famous ex Beatle Paul was as good of a cook as he is still a musician.

Shannon Elizabeth became famous for her sexy role in the 90s teenage comedy American Pie.

But these days she’d rather be recognized for using her onscreen presence to help promote environmental causes.

In her latest film, A Green Story, she plays Kelly, the real life daughter of Van Vlahakis, who left Greece with 22 dollars and went on to create the Earth Friendly cleaning products company.

Dr. Neal Barnard appeared as a guest on The Ellen DeGeneres Show to discuss his latest book Power Foods, dispense advice for better health, and offer a few vegan recipes.

Dr. Barnard is the president of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, which advocates a plant-based diet for human health and pushes medical research without the use of animals when possible.

“It started two or three years ago. I became a vegetarian when I said, “I’m gonna cut meat out and see how it feels.” It was summer then, and business on the Upper West Side in the summer is pretty rough because a lot of people leave the city. I thought, maybe I’ll just give the restaurant and staff a break and close on Mondays. We weren’t killing it, so why not give everyone the gift of rest? I decided instead to experiment with a vegetarian style of food. I was just going to do it for the summer time and then cut it down at the end of the season and go back to our regular thing. Monday became our third busiest day of the week. From a revenue side, I have to do it. But we also get to touch a completely different kind of customer on Monday. There’s a very specific style of neighborhood customer on the Upper West Side. Monday almost feels like a pop-up.”

—John Fraser, executive chef and proprietor of NYC’s Dovetail restaurant to the Village Voice. Fraser joins the likes of hundreds of chefs, corporations, hospitals, and other organizations that have chosen to regularly celebrate the meat-free holiday. Dovetail features a vegetable tasting menu as well as a Monday night vegetarian and vegetable focused four-course prix fixe.

Gwyneth Paltrow is quite an influential woman on the screen and in the kitchen.

She’s impressive with the use of vegan ingredients, so much Rachael Ray said she convinced her to try the eggless, soy-based mayonnaise Vegenaise.

The two gathered in Ray’s studios last week to demonstrate a few recipes from Paltrow’s latest cookbook, It’s All Good.
