Jillian Michaels would like to put America’s budget on a diet.

The former Biggest Loser coach has joined the Physician’s Committee for Responsible Medicine in an attempt to convince Congress to reduce funds that help subsidize less healthy food and the producers of those products.

In a letter to House Speaker John Boehner and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Michaels wrote, “Cutting subsidies for unhealthful foods would trim the nation’s budget—and Americans’ waistlines.”

“Some of our government’s current policies and programs actually promote obesity and other diseases by supporting the production and consumption of the very foods that contribute to… health problems.”

Singer Paula Cole, most famous for her 90s pop hit “Where Have All The Cowboys Gone,” is featured in the September 2011 issue of Vegetarian Times.

Cole gave up eating meat at 14, but says she allowed her daughter Skye to make the decision when she was ready.

Glee star Lea Michele is on the cover of the September 2011 issue of Harper’s Bazaar.

The actress told the magazine over a bowl of oatmeal that although she’s been accused of being a little on the thin side, her vegetarian diet doesn’t mean she’s eating birdseed for every meal.

“My schedule is insane, but I can out-eat you,” Michele said.

She’s a successful entrepreneur and reality TV star, but Angela Simmons is setting her sights on yet another challenge.

The vegetarian who credits her diet for her great looking figure is hoping she’ll go vegan in the future.

“I eat pretty well, I’m a vegetarian,” Simmons told GlobalGrind. “Hopefully I’ll be a vegan in a couple of years, but I’m taking it one step at a time.”

Michael Vick established a relationship with the Humane Society of the United States after he was convicted for his involvement with dog fighting activities.

Since then, he and HSUS CEO Wayne Pacelle have traveled across the country, making in-person appearances to teens in at-risk areas and appearing on national television shows to educate the public.

Greta van Susteren recently hosted Vick and Pacelle on her Fox News show The Record.
