Seth Rogan

Seth Rogen is set to star alongside Barbra Streisand in My Mother’s Curse, a film about a son out to reunite his mother with an old flame.

Rogen is an inventor who’s just created an organic cleaning product he plans to show off to various marketing outlets while taking the road trip with mom.

It’s highly appropriate that the show has a mother/son/eco-friendly theme to it, given the recent reports on a woman’s risk of breast cancer after being routinely exposed to common household cleaning products.

The research conducted at Silent Spring Institute in Newton, Massachusetts found women who often used household cleaning products were 110% more likely to be diagnosed with breast cancer than those who used them less often. Those that used air fresheners were 90% more likely to be diagnosed with breast cancer than those who used them less often.

Stella McCartney Could Design Queen’s Guards Faux Bear Skin Hats

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, July 21st, 2010 in Animal Issues, Fashion.

Stella McCartney is proving once again she’s an ethical leader in the fashion industry by proposing to design the hats worn by the Queen’s guards, according to The Telegraph. The hats are traditionally made from bearskin, but PETA is set to meet with Peter Luff, minister for defence equipment, support and technology, to discuss a faux alternative they say meets rigorous standards for waterproofing and warmth.

The technology that could make this happen is called Bear28.

“I’ve been working on this with Peta for a few years now and am really happy with the final product, as I hope the MoD will be when they see it,” McCartney said.

When Keane popped into Los Angeles for the Coachella Festival, the first place the guys stopped at was Astroburger so vegetarian drummer Richard Hughes could satisfy his herbivore needs.

“The tour bus took us straight to Astroburger and I was rather impressed with their veggie burger,” Hughes told the Laist.

Astroburger uses the Gardenburger brand meatless patty as a base for many of their creations, and can also whip out the flame-grilled variety or a bean burger. But that’s just the beginning of dressing up the veggie burger and many other items from the menu under the restaurant’s extensive vegetarian category.

Kellan Lutz

Eclipse hottie Kellan Lutz received a Vh1 Do Something award during the ceremony that was broadcasted live Monday night. The awards are meant to recognize people committed to social change.

Lutz was honored with the Do Something for the Animals award for his PETA ad encouraging people to adopt versus buy a pet.

Interacting with his canine co-star for the photo shoot probably came quite naturally, as Lutz claims he was a genuine Dr. Doolittle and had great conversation with the animals as a kid.

“I used to think I was Dr. Doolittle, or Kellan Doolittle,” he said. “I used to think I could talk to the animals because … my older brothers would pick on me and I had no friends because we moved around a lot.”

Bif Naked Backs Fur-Bearer Defenders On Cat And Dog Fur Ban

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, July 21st, 2010 in Animal Issues, Female Singers, Fur.

Bif Naked

Bif Naked is supporting a bill introduced in Canada by Winnipeg MP Anita Neville that would ban the import of dog and cat fur into the country.

In an open letter on behalf of Fur-Bearer Defenders, Naked wrote, “I am concerned about the domestic cat and dog fur trade that is happening overseas, and I support legislation to ban the import and sale of these products. I am writing this letter to show my support for Bill-C439.”

Approximately 4,000 people have already signed a postcard campaign backing the bill. The problem may not be that so many Canadians support this fur trade, but that they’re unaware it’s happening.
