Ruben Studdard‘s life was chronicled on TV One’s “Life After” series, which aired this week.

The 30 minute segment depicted Studdard growing up in Alabama, his introduction to music at an early age in the church, and his rise to American Idol status.

Ruben Studdard is scheduled to perform at the Real Men Can Cook event in Atlanta, Georgia at the Georgia Railroad Department for Father’s Day. The event will feature live performances and food prepared by various chefs and is meant to encourage African-American men to get in the kitchen while raising money for several charities: Communities in Schools of Georgia and Atlanta, The Ruben Studdard Foundation, Choices for Kids and Real Men Charities, Inc.

Studdard, who lost 100 pounds going a vegan diet, ranks among the men who can cook and he recently shared his formula for a vegan red velvet cake during a phone call with the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Jennifer Hudson has signed on to be a spokesperson for the weight loss program, Weight Watchers, after losing weight herself after the birth of her child.

Hudson was quoted by Popeater as saying, “{It’s} a lifestyle change, not a diet.”

When it comes to losing weight, what works?

Counting calories? Spends hours every week at the gym?

According to Food Consumer, Dr. Colin T Campbell, a Cornell University nutritionist and author of The China Study, suggests that what you eat is more important than how much and that eating a well balanced vegetarian or vegan diet may prevent weight gain.

Did you catch Ruben Studdard on the American Idol results show last night?

The camera may add 10 pounds, but that’s no problem for Studdard, who’s lost about 100!

When Ryan Seacrest told Studdard he looked great and asked what his secret was, Studdard replied, “I’m a vegan now, man. Working out everyday.”

Studdard has been a vegan for about six months and said on the Wendy Williams show he enjoys making vegan soul food at home.

Can we still vote for this guy every week?

Ruben Studdard has gone totally vegan!

He said on The Wendy Williams Show he’s been completely animal-free for about six months, but has been vegetarian in the past.

Ruben insists he’s not deprived and loves to cook his favorite vegan foods like vegan mac and cheese.

“I don’t eat any meat, any fish, any dairy, any eggs. But I cook everything. I learned how to cook all the great vegan foods.”
