Quantcast Vegetarian StarRuben Studdard On “Biggest Loser”–Vegan Was A Fad Diet

Ruben Studdard

Ruben Studdard is one of several celebrities aiming to get fit and lose the pounds on the latest season of the celebrity edition of The Biggest Loser.

Studdard had wowed fans with his loss of 100 pounds several years ago after his American Idol win. He did this primarily by adopting a vegetarian/vegan diet.

But like some who treat eating meatless like a trend rather than a lifestyle change, Studdard gave into his old habits and admits it’s probably partially responsible for him landing his latest gig on Biggest Loser.

During an interview, Studdard explained: “I was actually a vegan. I really enjoyed it for the time that I was one, (but) I’m not one any longer.”

He explained to another source that veganism never became “a real lifestyle change” for him.

There’s good data to support that vegetarians and vegan tend to have less problems with obesity and its related diseases, such as Type II diabetes, heart conditions and high blood pressure.

Studdard certainly has a good coach to lead him back to the lifestyle. Jillian Michaels is not vegetarian, but does adhere to a mostly pescatarian diet. Maybe the challenge on this season will help him remember what keeps the weight off.
