Stephen Colbert is proving he’s not of fan of vegetarianism. Not long ago, we brought you the video of him making fun of PETA’s new Sea Kitten Campaign, when he renamed animals to sound more vegetarian friendly like calling owls “sky nachos.”

Recently, he had Sir Paul McCartney on his show where he questioned the ex Beatle’s vegetarian diet.

“I have a beef to pick with you, sir, in that you don’t eat beef,” Colbert said. McCartney goes into detail about him feeling animals are sentient beings that deserve to live and not be eaten by humans and that the Dalai Lama agrees with him. The ever so sarcastic Colbert asks, “Don’t you think if the animals had the opportunity, they would eat us?”

Colbert’s starting to sound like Karl Lagerfeld.

McCartney replied with, “In an emergency, perhaps the Dalai Lama would eat me.”

Watch and listen to Paul say his midriff is the best part to eat during an emergency.

Television news journalist Jane Velez-Mitchell invited Native Foods Chef Tanya Petrovna over to her place for an awesome veg dinner and the whole event was filmed by SupremeMasterTV.

Jane has featured animal issues on her television segments such as Issues With Jane Velez Mitchell on CNN or Celebrity Justice and is also a vegan.

Jane and Tanya start off the cooking demonstration by discussing the differences between silken and Chinese style tofu. Then, it’s over to the stove top. To borrow a Rachael Ray phrase, using a little EVOO (Extra Virgin Olive Oil) in the pan, Jane brings to attention that it’s organic.

The ladies immediately break out into the Don’t Panic, It’s Organic slogan.

Jane takes the time to educate how meat production is the #1 cause of global warming. Take a look and get some ideas for dinner this weekend.

Kim Kardashian Gives Up Fur, Keeps Reggie Bush Lovin’

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, January 30th, 2009 in Fur, Reality TV.

2009 Moves Magazine Super Bowl Party

If you’ve got a good man, then you’d better bend over backwards to keep him. Especially if you’re in female shark Hollywood and Kim Kardashian learned this lesson real quick.

She’s become the latest celebrity to announce she’s shunning fur, according to Contact Music. Why? If you recall us telling you, her sister Khloe has done the same, posing naked in an anti-fur ad for PETA. It’s important to keep up with the Kardashians, you know.

An even bigger reason is that her boyfriend, New Orlean’s Saints running back Reggie Bush, threatened to dump her if she didn’t. Apparently the two were driving past an anti-fur rally at the Sundance Film Festival when they were bombarded by activists, screaming, “She’s in here!”

Bush said, “This is humiliating. I can’t go out with you.”

So Kim ditched the fur vest and kept her man.

Kim keeps gettin’ lovin’. Less animals are dying. You couldn’t ask for a happier ending.

PETA sure knows how to fire up your senses when it comes to women and even though hot peppers aren’t needed, it never hurts to toss them into the picture.

The latest spicy ad promoting vegetarianism is one that has made a comeback specifically for PETA Asia Pacific.

Maggie Q, actress and former fashion model, is inviting you to “Spice Up Your Life,” (in what appears to be Chinese writing).

“Going vegetarian is one of the most rewarding decisions I’ve ever made. I feel better, I have more energy on and off the set, and I have the satisfaction of knowing that I’m doing something to help stop animal suffering.”

Going vegetarian could possibly be the most rewarding decision you’ll ever make and coming in a close second would be putting this as a wallpaper background on your computer.

MLB: Phillies vs Brewers OCT 5

When Milwaukee Brewers Prince Fielder went vegetarian last year, the media swarmed him with interview questions about his diet so much, he jokingly told Yahoo Sports, theirs was the last veggie related interview he was doing.

Luckily he agreed, so after finding some old food voyeurism for you, we thought you’d might like to listen to his opinions on a few recipes. What do you think? Could food critic be in the future after retirement from a professional sports career?

He gave input on dishes like Pesto Pasta Toss, Tandoori Paneer Tikka, and Egyptian Koshari. Here’s what he thought of Roasted Ratatouille with Basil Aioli:

“I’ve seen the movie, but I’ve never ate it. I’ve always wondered what it was. I’d probably try it, although I’m not sure about the eggplant … I don’t like eggplant, it gets to me. I like the taste, but then I get like that saliva throw-up aftertaste in my mouth, you know what I’m talking about? Eggplant is good for you though, so I’ll put that as a maybe. It depends how I’m feeling.”

Rob Sedgwick Running Vegan Ice Cream Shop In New York

Kyra Sedgwick & Kevin Bacon Visit Stogo Ice Cream Shop

Rob Sedgwick (“Law and Order”, “30 Rock”), actor and brother to actress Kyra Sedgwick, has opened a vegan ice cream parlor, Stogo, in New York City with business partner Steve Horn.

Sedgwick is not a vegan. He’s not even a vegetarian and The New York Observer describes him as a “steak ’n’ eggs, cholesterol-till-you-die man.”

Still, he recognizes the popularity of non dairy products.

“It’s a great product,” he said. “There’s nothing out there like it and we’re already doing really well.”

Sis Kyra is quite happy for her brother, as she was reported to have said, “When Rob first told me about it, I thought it was a fantastic idea. My friend is vegan, and I know that vegan is quite the thing these days.” She also added that if someone had told her five years ago that Rob would open a vegan ice cream shop, she would have told them they were ” totally insane.”

Some have criticized non vegetarians for taking advantage of the market and going into the business purely to make a profit. But on the other hand, the fact that these non vegs want to do a vegan business says a lot in the world where the dollar bill rules. Vegans and vegetarians make up a strong niche market that doesn’t show signs of weakening.

And it will never hurt Rob to gobble down some of his product every now and then to offset his steak and eggs footprint.

Alyson Hannigan Pregnancy Turned Her Vegan To Meat And Cheese

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, January 29th, 2009 in Actresses, Food & Drink.

An Evening With 'How I Met Your Mother'

When several women in the same group get pregnant, it’s joked there’s “something in the water.” When several vegetarian or vegan women start craving and eating meat during pregnancy, could it be something in the belly?

Alyson Hannigan, who plays Lily on “How I Met Your Mother” revealed to US Magazine that she used to be a vegan, but now that she’s pregnant she craves meat and cheese. And gives into the cravings.

Joining the likes of Jennifer Connolly, Brooke Shields, and other celebrity women stating pregnancy induced meat cravings, Hannigan said, “I basically went from being a vegan to… now it’s meat and cheese — and ginger ale! Ginger ale, I love. Apparently, my mom craved ginger ale when she was pregnant with me! Maybe it’s a hereditary thing. But, yeah, I didn’t eat any meat or cheese before – now I have to.”

What do you feel about the allege “cravings” women get for meat during pregnancy? A legitimate phenomena? Or are they craving certain nutrients instead? Wouldn’t a Boca Burger do the same trick?
