Rachael Ray’s Big Orange Book Will Please Vegetarians

'Rachel Ray's Big Orange Book' Signing

The Food Network Queen Rachael Ray has a new cookbook out, Big Orange Book which contains tons of recipes that are short and easy to fix (30 Minute Meals), along with kosher, and meals for those cooking solo. She nicknamed the cookbook her friend, “BOB” (for Big Orange Book).

Ray listens to her customers. While on her last book tour, she got request for different types of meals INCLUDING VEGETARIAN! Yep, there’s an entire chapter devoted to us.

Hats off to Rachael for listening. Go buy her book and reward good behavior. Warning: There is an entire chapter on burgers as well. You may rip it out and use it for cat litter or just substitute a Boca Burger for any recipe.

So incredible that celebrity chefs are recognizing how vegetarians are part of the main course. From Cat Cora cooking with Morningstar Farms to BOB remembering his meatless friends.

What’s next? Iron Chef Tofu?

Leilani Munter’s a smart gal (Biology Degree, sure enough!) who served as a Hollywood stunt double before becoming a professional race car driver who mans, or shall we say (wo)mans No. 57 SMART Papers Dallara in the Firestone Indy Lights, which is a part of IndyCar racing.

The self-described vegetarian hippie chick has the same problem finding vegan clothing as actress Lisa Edelstein of House.

On her website, a fan who was also a racer wanted to know where to get non-leather shoes for racing. Leilani responded that she doesn’t know of any currently, and unfortunately, the only time she has to wear leather is when she’s behind the speed demon wheel.

Ah, she feels the pain of lots of vegheads out there trying to keep meat off the feet as well as the fork. But she has a good excuse: Leather has a natural fire resistance, something needed in case of a crash on the track.

Getting protection you need from going around in circles at 200 mph is one thing. Looking cute on the town is another. For all of you who drive 65, check out what Natalie Portman or Frank Iero strut around in.

Chelsea Clinton Sighting In NYC

President-elect Barack Obama and the fam are packing their things and loading it into the U-Haul for the big move to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

OK, maybe they’re not taking the U-Haul, but rather a more fancy presidentialy mover. When they arrive, the Mrs. may be happy she no longer has to do the cooking as White House Chefs take over.

Scheib, the former chef for Bushes and Clintons, published a book White House Chef: Eleven Years, Two Presidents, One Kitchen, last year and it’s filled with recipes he made for the first families, including one of Chelsea Clinton’s favorites, Thai-Spiced Sweet Potato Soup With Gingered Bok Choy.

Chelsea learned to cook vegan while in the White House, receiving a special certificate for her efforts. In addition to the sweet potato soup, the vegetarian Clinton likes grilled onions in the summertime.

12th Annual ACE Awards: Accessories Council Honors Fashion Influencers

Living in the UK has rubbed off on The Pretender’s Chrissie Hynde. Much like her fellow citizen Morrissey, she’s vegetarian and would prefer to share space with her kind.

“I would love to headline something, ’cause then I don’t have to share the catering with meat eaters,” she told Billboard.com.

“I love working with other bands, and I certainly don’t mind supporting another band. I don’t have to be the headliner; that’s never been an issue for me at all. I’m just more concerned about sharing the catering.”

See. Unlike other acts, she’s not a prima donna looking to steal the spotlight. Just looking for a meat-free buffet back on the rider.
