Judge John Deed: Written By Vegan, Played By Vegetarian

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, January 26th, 2009 in Actors.

When Will Smith’s Seven Pounds came out, there was a lot of talk about the vegan themes present throughout the movie, leading you to believe someone involved with the production was a vegetarian or vegan.

There’s no guessing vegetarians were at the center of one British drama that aired for almost a decade. Judge John Deed was the longest running BBC legal drama, debuting in 2001 and concluding in 2007, when actor Martin Shaw became involved with another television program.

“Judge John Deed” is a vegetarian, played by a vegetarian-Martin Shaw. The show was written by G.F. Newman, a vegan writer and producer who also had a hand in the Law and Order Dramas.

Newman, like Shaw, has been outspoken about his beliefs and insists that no meat is eaten on the sets when he is producing or directing shows.

2008 MTV Video Music Awards - Arrivals

Whatever happened to Pete Wentz?

The Fall Out Boy was once a vegan, then vegetarian, and now is neither. Plus, he’s sporting furry boots lately. What gives?

Sure, there’s a good chance it’s fake fur. But there’s a good chance it isn’t.

Back to the whole vegetarian thing. Between him and Oh, Joe who did, that leaves only two veg men standing-Patrick Stump and Andy Hurley.

Sigh…It would have been fun watching little Bronx grow up loving his seitan and veggies.

“I’m really getting tired of materialism. I don’t reckon I’ve got more than two or three years. I’ve burned out drugs. I’m burning out sex. I don’t even know what I’m doing yet. I’m not ready. I’ve got to be in a position where they can’t go, ‘Didn’t he f*** that stripper? Didn’t he go to that lap-dancing club?’

“There can’t be any of that around. That’s all got to go—until I’m in a position where I can say, ‘Look I’m celibate, I’m a vegan. All I do is meditate, come out and do stand-up and make films.’ ”

But all that is supposed to change soon. Let’s not hold our breath, though, for the Vegetarian Starter Kit Cover bad boy.

Stella McCartney Store - Christmas Lights Switched On

We all know organic is better for us, especially when it comes to some fruits and vegetables, but sometimes it’s hard to do the org thing because of access or financial issues. Not to worry, even the stars who pledge to be healthy have to compromise every now and then.

“Sometimes it’s just not practical, but I do what I can. I shop at Whole Foods in the U.K.,” said Stella McCartney.

Stella has her own line of organic skin care products, CARE, which are 100% totally organic.

She’s featured on Sprig.com’s 10 Organic Diet Secret of the Stars slide show, along with militant organic momma Madonna.

Kellie Pickler Is A Donna Salyers’ Fabulous Faux Fur Girl

42nd Annual CMA Awards - Arrivals

Yes, we’re still talking about New Year’s Eve, but then again, we’re still paying off the credit card bill from Christmas.

If you watched Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, you may have spotted country singer and recently turned vegetarian Kellie Pickler wearing a faux fur coat.

The faux fur coat was confirmed to be from Cincinnati-based Donna Salyers’ Fabulous Furs, a company that really likes to fake it-from fake fur to fake leather to fake lambskin, every piece of clothing imaginable was created without harming any animal whatsoever!

Some argue that fake fur shouldn’t be worn because others might like the style and buy a real one instead. But if word is gotten out on all the lovely fake furs there are to choose from, perhaps a takeover will happen in fashion where the coats worn by models are as fake as their bosoms.

If you’re going to fur it, faux fur it!

Bob Barker Tapes His Final Episode Of

Remember to spay and neuter your pets. And educate yourself on animal law.

Bob Barker has donated a million dollars to the University of Virginia Law school to help establish an animal law program, which includes a course on animal law and funding for guest speakers as well as a writing competition, according to nbc29.com.

Barker has long been both an animal rights activist and philanthropist, being an advocate for spaying and neutering cats and dogs and donating funds to other universities including Harvard, Columbia, Georgetown, Duke, Northwestern, Stanford and UCLA.

“There is definitely interest in animal law at the law school,” said the School’s Law Dean Paul Mahoney. “I think whenever you have a high profile legal case, it influences student interests, and certainly the Michael Vick case has raised awareness of animal law issues.”

If you’re a law student at U of V, you can start taking the course in the 2009-2010 school year.

Veg Man Chris Martin Hates Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop: Wonder Why

It’s no secret we have jumped on Gywneth Paltrow’s turkey eating behind for her website Goop, which has regularly recommended a plethora of meat dishes, even though she has claimed that she and hubby Chris Martin are “pretty much vegetarians” at home.

It seems that husband Chris, frontman for Coldplay, has issues with her site as well. According to Showbiz Spy, the website is causing friction in their marriage.

“He hates any exposure outside of what he considers necessary – his music, charity work and her acting. He thinks Goop’s self-indulgent and hates the speculation that the advice she gives on relationships or family problems may be an insight to their own personal life.”

Granted, the source did say family problems or relationships. However, Chris might be also ticked off that the site is causing other types of speculations. Like maybe, they actually eat turkey in their personal life? Chris has been known to be a vegetarian for some time, (World’s Sexiest, to be exact) before Gwyneth even told everyone about their “pretty much vegetarian” life at home.

The source continues, “Gwyneth doesn’t want to come across as a hypocrite.”

But oh, how she is doing so.

“She knows people will think that advice she’s put on the site is a reflection of what’s happening in her own life, but if she distances herself from those assumptions, people wouldn’t buy into Goop.”

So that’s it! Gywneth really isn’t a turkey burger eating, fish sucking gal at home after all. She’s just pretending to be to attract carnivorous fans.
