Fall Out Boy – Asia Update 3 from clandestine on Vimeo.

Jared Leto isn’t the only one who can save a spider from the death penalty.

Fall Out Boy was hanging out in South Korea when a spider was spied in one of their rooms.

After contemplating what to do with it, including placing it in Cobra Starship’s dressing room, the great veg man Patrick Stump caught the spider and returned it to its proper environment.

Apparently, there are vegetarian spiders who pass on the ants and go for the greens instead.

Watch the clip above to see Patrick and the boys in action. The hardcore spider action starts around minute 3:30.

Written by Vegetarian Star on Saturday, August 8th, 2009 in Business, Female Musicians, Female Singers, Food & Drink, Restaurants.

3rd Annual Black Girls Rock! Awards

Erykah Badu is known for visiting her hometown food joints, such as the Spiral Diner.

The latest news is that the soul singing diva likes to frequent a vegan bakery called Tough Cookie Bakery in Dallas, Texas.

From pegasunews.com:

“Even Erykah Badu is known to swing by The Green Spot every now and then to pick up a few those oh-so-decadent vegan cinnamon rolls we all dream about. And who can blame her? (Hmm — I wonder if she’s also responsible for those empty trays at The Pearl Cup…)”

“Well, Erykah — maybe your next cinnamon roll will include a little love from me, too!”

Tough Cookie makes not so tough tasting vegan cookies, muffins, pretzels and cinnamon rolls and is looking to create their own line of gluten-free pastries, pizza crusts, pies and breads in the future.

Shanna Moakler Regrets Ringling Brothers Circus Outing

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, August 7th, 2009 in Actresses, Animal Issues, Models, Videos.

Us Weekly Hot Hollywood - Arrivals

Shanna Moakler, ex-wife of Travis Barker and a longtime vegetarian, recently took her family to a Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey circus show.

However, she now regrets that decision after watching video footage on how animals are treated by handlers.

“My family and I attended the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus a couple weeks ago, and I believed—as I know many do—that the circus would treat its animals humanely. I was so deeply saddened when I saw PETA’s video showing the horrific abuse the elephants suffered at the hands of Ringling trainers. I took for granted that people were doing the right thing. I hope everyone watches the video at PETA.org. With this new knowledge, we can draw attention to this issue, make changes, and ensure that animals big and small are properly cared for. No amount of entertainment is worth allowing the torture of other living beings. We will never attend another Ringling Bros. show.”

If you’re interested in viewing the video Shanna watched, you can watch it here.

Vogues 1 Year Anniversary Party For 3.1 Phillip Lims LA Store - Arrivals

Grey’s Anatomy actress Jessica Capshaw recently talked about how she is becoming more and more eco-friendly these days, thanks to her husband, Christopher Gavigan, Executive Director and CEO of Healthy Child, Healthy World, a national non-profit organization devoted to children’s environmental health.

“I owe [my eco-consciousness] completely to my husband,” Jessica said.

“Christopher really understands the idea of living as naturally as you possibly can and being conscious of the effect that you have on your environment.”

However, Jessica isn’t interested in doing one simple move that would make a bigger impact than all the recycling, hybrid driving, and consumption reduction in the world would do by going vegetarian.

Although she does try to reduce her meat intake and keep it out of her two year old son’s diet, she says she can’t imagine life without an occasional cheeseburger.

“I’m a Midwesterner!” she said. “Not being able to have a cheeseburger once in a while would be torture!”

Ah, come on, Jess!

There’s not one soy, seitan, or otherwise vegetable protein burger you can’t find in Hollywood to suit your fancy?

Sounds like fellow cast mate Sandra Oh needs to include Jessica in an afternoon vegan restaurant outing.

“Back in 1977, when I was a player-coach, I came back from a road trip, and my wife was watching a PBS documentary on how veal comes to the table. As soon as I walked in the door, she said, “We will never eat veal again.” So that started it. Very soon after, all red meat disappeared from our plates, and the chicken and turkey, and then fish. Within a year to a year and a half, we were totally vegetarian.”

—-Major league baseball manager Tony La Russa, in an interview with Vegetarian Times in the September ’09 print issue. Tony and his wife, Elaine, founded the Animal Rescue Foundation, a nonprofit that provides services for abadoned animals, such as vet assistance and adoption.

Lady Gaga has been known for her choice of stage outfits, but this one really takes the cruelty-free cake.

The woman born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta recently made headlines with her Kermit the Frog outfit that she’s proud to say is fur free.

“The Kermit the Frog outfit is by an incredible designer by the name of Jean[-Charles] de Castelbajac, and he does a lot of museum art fashion pieces,” she said.

“I really loved this one in particular because I thought it was commentary on not wearing fur, ’cause I hate fur and I don’t wear fur. We were all laughing in the house about how it looks like a pile of dead Kermits.”

Note: No Kermit the Frogs were harmed or killed in any way during the making of the outfit.

Drummer Pat Thetic of the music group Anti-Flag, was recently interviewed by fanbolt.com, where he revealed he has a little addiction to vegan chocolate chip cookies.

“My favorite vegan dish? Vegan chocolate chip cookies! I just had about 10 of them in the bus.”

Incidentally, where do you get your chocolate chip cookie fix?

Vegan companies like Uncle Eddie’s and Alternative Baking Company make it easy for you go crazy on the cookie while keeping it sane with the eggs and dairy.

Pat also revealed he’s a big fan of vegetables with a little oil and salt and being vegan is easy because he’s never had a taste for meat.

“I find meat to be pretty disgusting, so I’ve never liked meat even as a kid, so it’s not difficult for me at all.”

Anti-Flag is currently lending their efforts to PETA’s Meat’s Not Green campaign in Germany.
