FOX-Fall Eco-Casino Party 2009

Jenna Ushkowitz is doing so much to help the environment, she has us singing with Glee.

The television star not only stays away from meat, but she does her best to save water.

“Not running the water when I brush my teeth, not running the shower too long, and I’m a vegetarian,” Ushkowitz said, when asked by Mother Nature Network how she helps to protect the environment.

Jenna the water conserving vegetarian. Lea Michele bucking cruelty. Does Glee have a caring bunch or what?

Look for some Madonna renditions in the upcoming episodes of Glee.

“We have her whole catalog. We’re all going through her music and thinking about what songs we’d like to do.”

Like a veggie Virgin.  Touching tempeh for the very first time.

Glenn Beck To Al Gore–Eat Tofu, Save The Planet

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, October 28th, 2009 in Politicians, TV Hosts, Videos.

Glenn Beck recently highlighted the importance of reducing meat consumption to prevent further destruction of the environment.

Beck called out Al Gore for not aggressively addressing the problem and encouraging environmentalists to become at least part time vegetarians and they are full time Prius drivers.

Beck began with a quote from U.K.’s climate chief Lord Stern:

“Meat is a wasteful use of water and creates a lot of greenhouse gases. It puts enormous pressure on the world’s resources. A vegetarian diet is better.”

Although he poo pooed the idea of Meatless Mondays in some schools (some blah blah about forcing a lifestyle on someone), Beck then demanded that Gore put his burger down and demand other environmentalist do the same.

And…gulp. Beck says he sides with PETA.

“That’s why I am siding with PETA on this one — once again asking Al Gore: If you really want to save the planet, put down the cheeseburgers and pick up the veggie burgers. Time for soy milk and to-furkey. No more delicious chocolate cookies — how about a nice bean-thing. That is, if you want to save the planet.”

“I’ve said before I disagree with PETA, but I respect them because they are not hypocrites: They say what they mean and mean what they say. I just disagree with what they say — except when it calls for Al Gore to eat tofu.”

This guy’s starting to grow on us. Not only is he not a frog killer, but he respects vegetarianism.

Will Beck soon produce a conservative’s porn dream and strip down to his naughties saying “I’d rather go naked than keep destroying the planet?”

Carrie: We had a problem like three years ago-I was in the recording studio…We ordered out and I asked the guy if the soup was vegetarian and he said, ‘oh yes, vegetarian, vegetarian’…I got it and there was a piece of chicken in it. But I don’t know if I actually ingested any.

US 99.5: If we could just have a moment of silence for the chicken.

The moment of silence was given.

Craig Ferguson Alicia Silverstone Power Outage–Blame Seitan

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, October 28th, 2009 in Actresses, Food & Drink, Videos.

Alicia Silverstone was recently on the The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson to talk about her new vegan diet and lifestyle book, The Kind Diet.

The lights went out during the interview segment, leaving both Alicia and Craig to chit chat by flashlight.

During the interview, Craig turned to Alicia’s Pecan Crusted Seitan recipe and was horrified!

“Seitan!” Craig said, and then proceeded to do a ritual over Alicia’s head mocking the removal of evil spirits.

Did the powers of seitan cause the lights to go out? Actually, it was probably the strong winds (70mph) that have been reported in the greater Los Angeles area.

“You can’t go eating stuff called seitan. Are you mad?” Craig asks.

Watch the clip and find out Alicia’s answer.

Bob Barker Signs Copies Of "Priceless Memories"

Bob Barker has donated a million dollars to his alma mater, Drury University, to establish a program for animal rights, the Dorothy Jo Barker Professorship for Animal Rights.

Named after his late wife Dorothy, the program will offer studies on various animal rights issues.

“At the very least, the students who take this class will have more respect for animals,” said Barker.

“It’s taught by 6 professors all experts in their field,” said professor Dr. Patricia McEachern. “There’s no other class like this in the United States”

This isn’t the first time Barker has teamed up a higher education institute to educate others about animal welfare.

Earlier this year, Bob donated a million dollars to the University of Virginia Law school to establish an animal law program.

Sigh. A million here. A million there. Bet the animals are thankful they’ve got a wealthy man on their side.

Kudos to Bob! Keep up the great work!

Morrissey–“Not One Celebrity Chef Is Vegetarian”

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, October 28th, 2009 in Food & Drink, Male Singers.

Los Premios MTV 2009 - Show

Morrissey made a return to London’s Royal Albert Hall recently recovering from a collapse he experience last week on tour.

The singer seemed to be in good spirits, even joking about his medical ailment.

Moz has been known to insert his thoughts on vegetarianism during his shows and at Royal Albert Hall, he complained that “not one celebrity chef is vegetarian.”

Not yet, Moz, but we’re hoping it should happen any minute now.

Morrissey once made fun of celebrity chef Jamie Oliver saying, “That meat-fed horror Jamie “Orrible” Oliver. If he’s a master chef, then I’m Miss Brazil 1970,” after being asked who he would most likely kick in the eye.
