Z100s Jingle Ball 2007 - Show

Avril Lavigne has been known to go and make things complicated when it comes to her status as a vegetarian, but this really takes the vegan cake.

In her hometown of Napanee, Ontario in Canada, at La Pizzeria Pizza and Spaghetti House, there’s a pizza named after her. Avril was a regular there, eating lots of slices of mushroom, olive, and pepperoni pizza. Yes, pepperoni.

And although Avril has associated herself with being vegetarian, she still rides the roni when she visits home, according to pizzeria co-owner Bill Kosmopoulos.

“She still has pepperoni on it,” said Bill, referring to the pizza Avril eats when she stops by occasionally.

This story is sorta reminiscent of vegetarian Alec Baldwin joking around with the New Yorker saying he shot and smoked deer meat and ate it every morning. Only this story sounds true.

“In East Hampton, I’m a nudist and I eat meat,” Baldwin—a vegetarian—had said before my visit, expanding on the idea that he lived a quite different life on Long Island than he did in New York. “I shoot deer with a bow and arrow. I smoke the deer meat and eat it every morning with my eggs and toast. I am a homosexual. I listen to rock music, loud.”

Insert Avril’s name and change a few of the specifics and you get:

“In Napanee, I chow down on the pepperoni and live a quite different life than I do in the states.”

Chelsea Clinton Has Vegetarian Menu Named After Her

The School Of American Ballet Hosts The Third Annual Winter Ball

Avril Lavigne may think she’s something with the pizza named after her in her hometown in Canada, but she’s got nothing on Chelsea Clinton, who’s got an entire vegetarian menu with her brand on it.

When her father former President Bill visited a tandoori restaurant located in the Maurya Sheraton Hotel in India, he said he wished he had two stomachs, according to the New York Times. His flattery got him a menu as well, but he’s on the meat list.

If you recall, Chelsea went vegan during her White House dwelling days and even took professional cooking lessons before going off to Standford where she learned to make awesomely delicious vegan meals like Thai Spiced Sweet Potato Soup With Gingered Bok Choy.

Avril Lavigne No Kitty Cat, Not Into Wheatgrass Shots

So there was a rumor going around that Avril Lavigne craves wheatgrass shots.

While this isn’t true, she does try to get her vegetables in through steaming broccoli and eating other vegetables with vegan sour cream and vegan butter before shows to keep her energy level up.

After a show though, it’s all downhill. According to People, she said, “I’ll eat junk and have a glass of wine. I like French fries and ice cream cones – and [I like] the truck-stop burritos.”

She’s also a sucker for dill pickle-flavored chips her home country of Canada. Good thing too, as it’s probably easier to take these with her on the road as opposed to the pizzas named after her in her hometown.

Nice to know Avril knows how to be both naughty and nice.

While we love Avril eating healthy, and wheatgrass shots are supposedly good and all, somehow it makes you think of the plant you bring home from Whole Foods to give to the cat.

Gabrielle Miller Doesn’t Cut Veggie Corners

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, October 16th, 2008 in Actresses.

2008 Canada's Walk of Fame

For our Canadian readers, this one’s for you. Of course, you could argue that any one of the Bryan Adam’s posts is for you as well. Or Avril Lavigne. Well, darn, never mind. Us posting news about Canadian stars isn’t so unique after all.

Anyway, we like talking about vegetarian stars from around the world and this time we’re heading north to bring you some info we found about actress Gabrielle Miller. She stars in a popular Canadian show, “Corner Gas,” which won a Gemini award (Canadian version of Emmy) in 2007. She’s also been a sci-fi chick, having roles in “Stargate SG-1” and “The X Files”, where she played two different roles (how out of this world does that sound? ha, ha, geek humor.)

She was raised vegetarian by her vegetarian and raw food enthusiast parents. “I sometimes eat rennet-free cheese but otherwise I’m vegan.”

Since she spends a lot of time in L.A., she’s had the chance to develop some opinions on the city’s culture, health and foodwise. Although we think of the city packed with fit bods and ultra organic foodies, she doesn’t feel everyone’s getting ripped the right way.

“They come to LA and have to stay slim so they diet and really mess with their metabolism which puts them unhealthily out of balance. But, on the other hand, LA is a wonderful city for vegetarians and those who eat natural whole foods, with an incredible support system of stores and restaurants that cater to this lifestyle.”

Go read the interview at vistamagonline.com and learn how she avoids cutting corners when it comes to healthy eating despite her hectic schedule at times.
