Leona Lewis doesn’t like getting buzzed and has branded the idea of people needing to get drunk to have a good time, “ridiculous.”

This was revealed during her interview with In Style UK, where she said she prefers to have a Red Bull instead.

“I don’t drink. I haven’t for years it tastes like hairspray to me – I can have a great time without alcohol. I don’t need that to get me up on the dancefloor, I’m there already. I’ll sometimes have a little Red Bull. That’s my little buzz.”

Non-alcoholic partiers will be happy to know that, unlike many alcoholic drinks, Red Bull contains no animal products or derivatives and is suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

According to the website’s FAQ, Red Bull is vegan, Kosher, Halal, wheat-free, gluten-free and dairy free.

And that rumor about the taurine coming from the bull’s testicles?

That’s bulls–t!

“The taurine in Red Bull Energy Drink is a purely synthetic substance produced by pharmaceutical companies and is not derived from animals or animal materials. All ingredients for Red Bull Energy Drink are synthetically produced by pharmaceutical companies. This guarantees the highest quality.”

What a great reason to stay sober!

It was also revealed that the singer is very particular about how her tofu is prepared.

“I don’t think I’m demanding!” she said. “I think it’s okay to ask how you want your food cooked. People just dramatise everything.”

No, the singer insists she still has those sweet girl roots and has never even gotten angry, except for a few times, like when someone kept trying to give her a business card to get her a fur.

She is in the process of designing clothing for her vegetarian fashion line, which she says she hasn’t had a lot of time to focus on, but it’s definitely still scheduled to launch one day.

Leona Lewis “The Fabric Of Our Lives” Cotton Commercial (Video)

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, April 20th, 2010 in Fashion, Female Singers, Videos.

Leona Lewis is a new spokesperson for the Fabric of Our Lives campaign, which promotes the natural fiber, something Leona says is a great alternative to animal fabrics.

“I love fashion and I’m always finding alternative ways to non-animal products. Cotton is a great fabric,” Leona told Showbiz Spy.

Organic cotton should be your top choice if possible.

Treehugger reports that, “Conventional cotton is one of the most chemically-dependent crops, sucking up 10 percent of all agricultural chemicals and 25 percent of insecticides on 3 percent of our arable land; that’s more than any other crop per unit.”

This translates into needing up to 1/3 pound of chemicals to produce enough cotton for a t-shirt and 3/4 pound for a pair of jeans.

Plus, The World Health Organization says that up to 20,000 deaths occur each year from from pesticide poisoning in developing countries, where cotton is often still picked by hand.

There’s organic cotton for every budget, from retail brands like Nike and Patogonia to upscale labels like Loomstate and Katherine Hamnett.

SXSW 2008 Day 4 - Austin TX

Billboard reports that the annual SXSW (South By South West) festival in Austin drew record numbers with 13,022 registered music industry professionals.

And while 100,000 people were expected to attend the 10 day music, film and networking event, official figures are still being tallied.

Wouldn’t it be great if there was a vegetarian musician fest offered annually?

Just think of all the great award winning acts that could take the stage, not to mention the great food to eat at the concessions.

Chrissie Hynde and The Pretenders would ensure seitan and not roast beef sandwiches would be sold to hungry fans.

The smooth sounds of hip hop artist Erykah Badu could combine with jazzy DJ skills of someone like Moby for an evening of soul topped off with a hearty helping of UK women Joss Stone and Leona Lewis.

Singer songwriter Nellie McKay controls the piano, indoors or outdoors.

And another day could be reserved for the meatless rockers like Joan Jett, Boston’s Tom Scholz and Queen’s Brian May.

Meatless music fanatics with an entrepreneurial spirit, can you make this happen in the future?
