Joss Stone PETA

Vegetarian Joss Stone has bared all in an ad for PETA urging the Ministry of Defense to stop using bearskin in the hats worn by the Queen’s guards and instead switch to synthetic fur.

“Bears suffer and die for the Queen’s Guards’ caps,” the ad reads. “Support the campaign to end this cruelty.”

Imagine There's No Hunger - Gig

Joss Stone has signed up to bare it all in a new PETA campaign encouraging to drop the use of real bear fur in hats worn by the royal guards in the UK.

A source told the Sunday Mirror, “The plight of wild bears hunted for their skins and for fun is a subject very close to her heart. She hates the fact that Canadian black bears are slaughtered for their skins to make the Queen’s Guards’ ceremonial caps so decided to peel off for the campaign.”

“It was quite full-on. She’s laying on a Union Jack with nothing on. It sends a message to the Palace over the fur they use. They are beautiful pictures and she was very comfortable being without clothes,” the source added.

Stone’s parents are both vegetarian and the singer grew up in a meatless household.

No word yet on when the ad will go live.

The “Colour Me Free” singer turns 23 years of age this month.

What a great way to celebrate your birthday by getting involved with animal activism in your birthday suit!

SXSW 2008 Day 4 - Austin TX

Billboard reports that the annual SXSW (South By South West) festival in Austin drew record numbers with 13,022 registered music industry professionals.

And while 100,000 people were expected to attend the 10 day music, film and networking event, official figures are still being tallied.

Wouldn’t it be great if there was a vegetarian musician fest offered annually?

Just think of all the great award winning acts that could take the stage, not to mention the great food to eat at the concessions.

Chrissie Hynde and The Pretenders would ensure seitan and not roast beef sandwiches would be sold to hungry fans.

The smooth sounds of hip hop artist Erykah Badu could combine with jazzy DJ skills of someone like Moby for an evening of soul topped off with a hearty helping of UK women Joss Stone and Leona Lewis.

Singer songwriter Nellie McKay controls the piano, indoors or outdoors.

And another day could be reserved for the meatless rockers like Joan Jett, Boston’s Tom Scholz and Queen’s Brian May.

Meatless music fanatics with an entrepreneurial spirit, can you make this happen in the future?

Joss Stone Travel Adventures Make Consuming Fresh Veggies Hard

Joss Stone Switches On The Hard Rock Cafe Christmas Tree Lights

Joss Stone‘s traveled to some beautiful places in her lifetime, including Greece, Costa Rica and Turkey.

She likes to bring along her dogs, and although she usually has breathtaking experiences, not all of her travel adventures have been positive.

Joss says a reservation error landed her in a hotel with ants and an unpleasant smell.

Then there’s always the food and drink dilemma, which Joss says go hand in hand since so much of her food requires rinsing with fresh water.

“I avoid drinking the water until I know whether it is clean or not. I’ve heard loads of horror stories of people being ill and coming down with diarrhea just from drinking the water in other countries. It makes it extra difficult for me because I’m a vegetarian, and most of the salads and vegetables are washed using tap water.”

Joss’s is currently performing to promote her lastest album, Colour Me Free.

Imagine There's No Hunger - Gig

Joss Stone has been hiding for a few years, but finally she’s back with a brand new album, Colour Me Free, released this fall.

Obviously, this meant lots of press interviews, song writing and revising and time spent in the recording studio, but Joss still found time to enjoy the holidays with her family.

Although Joss’ family is veg like her, she admits she’d make a meaty meal if a carnivorous friend came over.

“Roasted nut loaf,” she said of what she serves for the holidays. “I’m a vegetarian, although I’d serve turkey if anybody wanted it.”
