Ina Garten Gives Vegan Italian Advice On “Barefoot Contessa”

Ina Garten was given the dishonor of having one of the worst cookbooks for healthy cooking by a physician’s group that advocates a plant-based diet.

If she ever wants to redeem herself, Miss Barefoot Contessa has the knowledge to put together a collection of vegetarian and vegan recipes, as she recently gave some advice to a man who needed to cook for his vegetarian girlfriend who was also lactose intollerant.

Biz stopped by to demonstrate making seitan for Martha’s special vegan episode, which was a hit among meat eaters and vegetarians.

“Masterchef” Puts Vegetarian Chef Ahead Of Competition

Reality TV has a way of giving the vegetarian the shaft. And not the juicy, nutritious celery kind either.

Often, the contestant has to choose between continuing to compete or eating meat, cooking meat or gets lambasted by judges, competitors and blogs for cooking meatless dishes.

This season, BBC’s Masterchef tells a different story. One of the four finalists in the competition is known for her vegetarian dishes and Mastechef’s co-presenter Greg Wallace is impressed.

Newsweek ran an article on vegan CEOs. The Wall Street Journal talked about almond milk. If periodicals with readerships in the millions are talking about veggies regularly, we must be on our way to world where more meals eaten by the majority of people are plant-based.

Recently, WSJ ran an article called “Meet the Meaty Veggies,” where it discusses how popular chefs like Blue Hill’s Dan Barber cook up veggies for herbivores and meat eaters alike.
