Alicia Silverstone hosts a launch for her new book THE KIND DIET , NYC

Giada De Laurentiis made an appearance at Alicia Silverstone‘s launch party for her book The Kind Diet: A Simple Guide to Feeling Great, Losing Weight, and Saving the Planet held at Candle 79 vegan restaurant.

Does the Food Network‘s Italian cooking diva have a thing for vegan meals?

If so, we’d love to see Giada feature a cheeseless lasagna dish, similar to her recipe we found for vegetarian Individual Vegetable Lasagnas.

The Kind Diet
is set for release October 13.

Dr. Robert Rey Educates Paparazzi on Breast Implants!

Dr. Robert Rey is the celebrity plastic surgeon on the television series Dr. 90210 who actually thinks plastic surgery should be used as a last resort.

Dr. Rey instead offers some advice to avoid paying him a visit.

“Firstly, if it doesn’t grow directly out of the ground, don’t eat it.

“Secondly, if it is not wild or organic, don’t eat it. If it doesn’t have scales, don’t eat it.

“And eat every three hours. That’s it.”

Is Dr. Rey implying his would be patients eat an almost vegetarian diet?

Sure sounds like he’s advocating abolishing all animals but fish.

Being the beautiful people we are, our advice is just as golden as Dr. Rey’s, so we’ll offer one additional tip for staying forever young.

If it has a face, don’t eat it.

It’s October and that means Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Fitsugar.com has compiled a slideshow of 10 celebrity breast cancer survivors, and two of the ladies are vegetarian favorites, Melissa Etheridge and Christina Applegate.

Doctors found a lump in Melissa’s breast in 2004 and she sought chemo and radiation treatment, performing bald at a Janis Joplin tribute in 2005.

After Christina Applegate’s breast cancer was detected, she decided to remove both breasts and treated herself to a brand new pair of manufactured boobs after her surgeries.

As we’ve cited before, vegetarians tend to have lower death rates from cancer than meat eaters.

NBC All-Star Event - Arrivals

If you’ve ever watched The Biggest Loser and wished you could have your very own personal Bob Harper cheering you on your fitness goals, here’s your chance.

Bob and The Grain Council are giving you the opportunity to win a trip to LA to see Bob and have a one on one training session with the nationally recognized fitness instructor.

Bob says everyone should have at least 6 servings of grains a day, with three of those being whole grains.

“One of the main things I tell people is that you’ve got to get your fruits, your vegetables and your grains every day,” Bob told Thatsfit.com. “Every morning I’m going to have my oatmeal; I’m going to have my fruits. For lunch I have brown rice and black beans. I always have Melba toast. Melba toast seems like an old lady thing to eat but I’m getting my servings of grain from that. Then dinner is always going be plenty of vegetables because I’m a vegetarian.”

Be an old lady like Bob and get yourself some grains!

Put whole grains like barley, brown rice, buckwheat, bulgur, millet, oatmeal and popcorn on your next shopping list.

And enter the Grain Council contest from now until October 27.
