Earlier we brought you the news that famed TV doc Dr. Oz challenged a meat loving cowboy to go on a vegan diet.

Rocco took the challenge and 28 days later lost 6 inches from his waistline, lowered his blood sugar from dangerously high 172 to 99 and raised his good HDL cholesterol.

Watch the “after” video of Rocco and Dr. Oz discussing the results.

“I have an eating disorder,” Rocco said. “Nobody’s out to save fat guys.”

“If I can do it, anybody can do it,” Rocco said.

Rocco said he tried meat after his challenge, but it just wasn’t the same.

We hope the new “difference” will help keep Rocco away from the animals for the rest of his long, healthy life!

“Sesame Street” 40th Anniversary November 10 2009

Cookie Monster "Sesame Street"

Sesame Street

Sesame Street celebrates its 40th anniversary on November 10 2009.

That’s a lot of cookies for Cookie Monster!

Luckily in recent years, the show has taken to advocating healthier living habits, including promoting better food choices.

For example, Cookie Monster had an epiphany that he could get pleasure in other things besides overeating sugary foods. In addition, Cookie changed his song from “C is for Cookie, that’s good enough for me” to “Cookies are a sometimes food.”

No, the ring’s not as catchy, but the political theme will keep the song in history books.

First lady Michelle Obama also took a stroll down Sesame Street, planting vegetables with Elmo and telling children to eat more fruits and vegetables.

And watch out Barack, for someone could steal the heart of his woman. Michelle and Big Bird have similar interests, as they both like seeds.

We’re proud of Big Bird, Cookie Monster and the rest of the Sesame Street neighborhood association for using their influence on children positively.

Now if they would only promote human rights and take Oscar The Grouch from his garbage can and into safe, affordable housing.

Jillian Michaels Wears "Fight Breedism" T-Shirt

Jillian Michaels is quite the multi-promoter.

The Biggest Loser coach was spotted sporting a PETA Fight Breedism t-shirt.

What’s even more cool is that Jillian is standing in front of a Subway restaurant–and highlighting healthier alternatives to fast food.

Jillian is almost veg–saying she consumes some fish here and there.

We’re crossing our fingers she’ll follow the lead of Biggest Loser co-star Bob Harper and go veg completely one day.

Warren G Might “Regulate” With Vegan Diet

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009 in Food & Drink, Male Singers, Nutrition-Health-Fitness.

2009 VH1 Hip Hop Honors - Arrivals

All you hip hop children of the 90s will be happy to learn Warren G has released his 7th album, The G Files.

But this isn’t the 90s anymore and G Funk is getting older just like the rest of us and he’s seriously rethinking his lifestyle, especially since his Regulate mate Nate Dogg experienced a stroke in his 30s.

From omaha.com:

Q. How’s Nate Dogg (who suffered his second stroke of the year in September)?

A. He’s in slow recovery … in therapy. He’s progressing real good. We’re praying for a fast recovery.

Q. Did his stroke come as a shock?

A. It was an eye-opener for everyone. We’re all getting older. When you hit 40, I’m not 40 yet, but when I do that’s when it’s time to think about all these diseases like prostate cancer. I’m going to have my system clean. Hey, I might become a vegan. You never know. I need to exercise more. Right now I’ve been eating a little bad lately. I had McDonald’s the other day. I don’t have too much fried food. When we do cook fried food at home, I try to cook it in olive oil.

Q. You know it wasn’t just the fried food that got Nate.

A. Yeah. But we all need to take better care of ourselves. Once Nate gets up and running, he needs to.

Regulate that olive oil, man.

Dr. Neal Barnard

Dr. Neal Barnard

When Marilu Henner was asked who to Award the Veggie Guy Power label to, she answered:

“Dr. Neil Barnard for creating PCRM (Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine). He’s great at getting the word out, and he looks so damn good doing it!”

PCRM is a network of doctors and other individuals who work to promote more ethical practices in medicine, research and health care.

They are for alternative methods of testing to animal research and advocate a vegetarian diet.

Dr. Barnard is the president of PCRM, has authored several books, contributed to academic journals and lay magazines and has been a proud veg since discovering the ribs in his med school cafeteria resembled the cadavers he worked on in the lab.

He’s also quite good looking.

Hmm…Maybe the PCRM could promote their mission better if their doctors did do nude veggie PSAs.

Kim Kardashian Fitness DVDs–Keeping Up With Nutrition On Set

Written by Vegetarian Star on Sunday, October 25th, 2009 in Nutrition-Health-Fitness, Reality TV.

Kim Kardashian Hosts Launch Event for FusionBeauty's New Infatuation Lip Gloss

Jennifer Galardi choreographed Kim Kardashian‘s fitness DVDs and gave some exclusive behind the scenes details to That’s Fit on the moves that help Kim maintain her famous Armenian Princess Kardashian curves.

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star has hinted that she’s eating more vegetarian meals to stay fit and she and Galardi enjoyed vegetarian food during the filming of the DVDs.

“It’s always challenging to eat well on a production set, but one of my favorite vegetarian restaurants was near the studio, and I introduced Kim to some great-tasting raw and macrobiotic foods, like Scarlett Quinoa (grains made with beets to color the dish a beautiful red),” Galardi said.

“We also ate lots of steamed kale and some sushi. You really can’t practice the “starvation” diet method that many models and actresses employ when you’re shooting energetic exercise DVDs. You’ve got to sustain all that stamina for the cameras. Kim and I were doing multiple takes of these workouts so it’s crucial to give your body the energy it needs from healthy and vibrant foods. Of course, dark chocolate is always a great snack option!”

Learn how you can adapt Kim’s routines anywhere, even at the office, at thatsfit.com.
