Cookin' With Coolio

Gangsta’s Paradise went gourmet when Coolio released a cookbook in 2009 titled, “Cookin’ With Coolio: 5 Star Meals At A 1 Star Price.”

Coolio’s book happens to have an entire chapter devoted to vegetarians as well as one titled “Salad Eatin-Bitches” for those that aren’t interested in “Pimpin’ the Poultry.”

If you’re still trying to contain your laughter, you should also know this book received an average of 4.5/5 stars by reviewers on Amazon who also had pleasant things to say about how well the book actually teaches cooking skills, something also illustrated in Coolio’s web-based cooking show, “Cooking With Coolio.”

Matisyahu More Jewish And Vegan Than Drake

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, February 17th, 2011 in Food & Drink, Male Singers.

Matisyahu

Matisyahu was spotted coming out of a restaurant in L.A. recently when he was asked who was the better Jewish rapper, him or Drake.

Drake, born Aubrey Drake Graham to a Jewish Canadian mother and African-American father from Tennessee, is a hip-hop artist who first made a name for himself in the entertainment business by starring as Jimmy Brooks in Degrassi: The Next Generation.

Matisyahu thinks Drake’s Jewishness can’t compete with his. It’s time for a rapping, Jewish man faceoff!

TMZ: He’s [Drake] going around saying he’s the best Jew to ever do it [have a successful rap career]. Who’s more kosher man? You or Drake?

Ricky Gervais

Three British stars are backing a campaign against all forms of hunting as a sport.

Ricky Gervais, Morrissey and Johnny Marr support the League Against Cruel Sports. The league is involved in bringing attention to a variety of hunting involving animals, including bullfighting, dog fighting, greyhound racing and the snaring of animals like foxes and rabbits.

The league is often involved with investigating illegal hunts, campaigning on the legislative level and running sanctuaries designed to protect wildlife in heavily hunted areas.

“Animals are not around just for people to abuse and kill in the name of so-called entertainment and sport, Gervais said. “It’s beyond belief that it actually happens and that certain deluded people get enjoyment from it. I support the League and its campaigns to try and stop cruel sports.”

Moby Is Former Vegan And Vegetarian Hater (Video)

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, February 11th, 2011 in Food & Drink, Male Musicians, Male Singers, Videos.

Moby

Moby has been a vegan for about half his life, but at a Wanderlust Festival Speakeasy Lecture series, the musician filled in the blanks about what his diet was like before he found the starving kitten in the dumpster that made him rethink his dedication to animals.

“Up until the time I was about 19 years old, I had nothing but disdain for vegetarians and vegans. There was a woman in my high school class and she refused to play softball because the mitt was made out of leather. And I just thought that was the stupidest thing I’d ever heard.”

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, February 11th, 2011 in Animal Issues, Fashion, Male Singers.

Waka Flocka

Waka Flocka Flame plans to show the world he’s not down with fur once his PETA “Ink Not Mink” anti-fur ad is unveiled.

As it turns out, Waka always wears his own skin. This guy is fur AND leather free.

From Sohh:

“He wasn’t shy about agreeing to go naked to bring attention to the fur industry,” Cho revealed in an interview. “We’re all huge fans of his music — I did some research online and I didn’t see any photos of him wearing fur. PETA reached out to him with a request to start our ‘Ink Not Mink’ campaign, and come to find out, Waka doesn’t even wear leather.”

While being interviewed by the NBC Today Show, Weird Al Yankovic shared his recipe for a Twinkie hot dog.

This dish involves taking a Twinkie and slicing it in half, then placing a tofu pup in the middle and topping with your favorite toppings. Go throw up now. But come right back and finish reading.

Although some tout the weight loss benefits of a Twinkie diet, the yellow submarine is full of sugar, high fructose corn syrup, dyes and other preservative items that one person found so interesting, he photographed all 37 ingredients in it so viewers could play a matching game to figure out which one is which.

Waka Flocka Flame Using No Hands Or Clothes For PETA Ad

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, February 9th, 2011 in Animal Issues, Fur, Male Singers.

Waka Flocka Flame

Activist ladies, be on the lookout for another male getting naked in the name of animal welfare.

Waka Flocka Flame, southern hip-hop and rap artist best known for his single, “No Hands,” will launch an anti-fur ad with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals later this month.

“Animals should be treated the same as you would a kid,” Waka told XXL. “Would you want someone just to walk up and skin your kid? Hell no!”

Lately, lots of Y chromosome-bearing people have been taking their clothes off in the “Ink No Mink” ads that emphasize their tattoos instead of fur, including Willis McGahee and Chad Ochocinco.
