Bryan Adams Enjoys Tandoor Broccoli

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, February 8th, 2011 in Food & Drink, Male Musicians, Male Singers.

Bryan Adams

Bryan Adams is set to begin his multi-city tour in India, where it’s a good bet he’ll be enjoying Broccoli from a Tandoor oven.

When asked during an interview what his favorite food was, the vegetarian musician answered, “Vegetable tandoori. Broccoli cooked in a tandoor oven. Incredible!”

Tandoors are cylindrical clay ovens used for cooking in India as well as places in the Middle East and Central Asia.  Traditionally, heat was generated by using a charcoal or wood-burning fire. Now, many Indian restaurants run tandoor ovens on electricity or gas. The oven is used for certain types of Indian foods, such as bread varieties like naan.

When asked why he became a vegetarian, Weird Al said, “Many years ago I found out something about hamburgers that really grossed me out. You may not know this, so I hope I don’t make you sick, but it turns out hamburgers are actually made out of dead cows. I am not making this up. Needless to say, as soon as I discovered that, I gave up meat entirely.”

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, January 20th, 2011 in Animal Issues, Male Singers.

Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber has done another PETA ad, his current one advocating adopting a pet at a shelter versus buying one from a store or breeder.

Playing on his hit song, “U Smile,” the ad reads, “Animals can make u smile. Adopt from your local shelter.”

Many people use the excuse that they need (or want) a purebred animal to avoid a shelter. But Dr. Debbye Turner Bell, veterinarian and CBS News correspondent says that about 25-30% of shelter animals are purebreds.

If you didn’t give a roasted seitan about what celebrities do, you probably wouldn’t be reading this post.

The organizers of Climate Week realize that if people like Gwyneth Paltrow put up a story about composting poop on Goop, a trend will soon follow. That’s why they commissioned Millward Brown, a brand research consultancy, to use its “Cebra” (celebrity-brand) index to survey people to see which celebrities carry the greatest influence in inciting fans to act on saving the environment.

“We are often told that we are living in the “age of celebrity”. Yes, it’s an utterly depressing thought, but some believe we should exploit this collective obsession by putting to good use the mighty influence many celebrities wield,” writes The Guardian. “The reason is simple: many people – whether they admit it or not – look up to celebrities.”

And it may be even more utterly depressing to think of “scientific survey” and “celebrity” used in the same sentence, but let’s take a look at what Millward Brown did and found.
