Big Brother is holding its live auditions and it looks as if another veggie could be cast as one of the housemates.

Sam is a 21 year old who lists his occupation as a “graffiti artist” but don’t expect to tag murals of cage-free hens or any other depictions of happier, freer animal life, as he could care less about them.

“I just hate the taste and texture, I don’t care about animals dying”.

Alton Brown has seen to it that bluefin tuna will no longer be used on Iron Chef America.

The host of the Food Network show had previously said he would boycott Nobu restaurant until it removed the endangered species from the menu. Recently, however, Makoto Okuwa served up a dish using bluefin tuna belly, which prompted a food blogger to address Brown about the issue, according to LA Weekly.

Joe Jonas

Joe Jonas was spotted taking a big bite of a veggie burger at vegan restaurant Real Food Daily in West Hollywood.

Would love to have this Jonas Brother put a purity ring on for the environment and promise to save his palate for meat-free meals forever.

One researcher at the Carnegie Mellon University estimated that swiping a veggie burger for a meat once a week can save the equivalent of 1860 km of driving. That’s approximately the distance from Colorado to Alabama or the amount of miles a screaming, hormonal teenage girl will travel to see Joe eat anything.

Rhona Mitra
Rhona Mitra stars in the new ABC television series The Gates, a crime drama show with a supernatural twist.

It’s going to take more than superpowers to restore the Gulf Coast to its pre-BP disaster state, and the actress recently discussed her thoughts on the oil spill and environmental issues with Popeater.

On Hollywood being viewed as hypocritical for being green (e.g. taking private jets):
I’m very aware of people who want to be seen doing the right thing on the exterior so they can make themselves feel better. I have implemented things in my life that I do behind closed doors that on the outside don’t look like anything. For example I’m a vegan, which is a very touchy area because when people hear you’re vegan they’re like, ‘That’s so righteous.’

Rapper Common was sighted in Chicago having lunch with his mother and daughter at Karyn’s On Green.

The restaurant offers raw, vegan food such as soups, salads and sandwiches and is owned by Karyn Calabrese, a vegan for 30 years who appeared on The Oprah Show on a segment on anti-aging.

Common and the fam dined on squash soup, a portobello sandwich and a vegetable wrap. Karyn’s lunch menu indicates the butternut squash soup is also gluten-free and contains chickpeas for an extra protein punch.

When Keane popped into Los Angeles for the Coachella Festival, the first place the guys stopped at was Astroburger so vegetarian drummer Richard Hughes could satisfy his herbivore needs.

“The tour bus took us straight to Astroburger and I was rather impressed with their veggie burger,” Hughes told the Laist.

Astroburger uses the Gardenburger brand meatless patty as a base for many of their creations, and can also whip out the flame-grilled variety or a bean burger. But that’s just the beginning of dressing up the veggie burger and many other items from the menu under the restaurant’s extensive vegetarian category.
