Restaurant Impossible Michelle Obama

Michelle Obama was a guest on Food Network’s Restaurant Impossible where she and host Robert Irvine visited a school garden at the non-profit Horton’s Kids in Washington, D.C.   The First Lady’s challenge for Irvine, who usually spends the episode trying to salvage failing restaurants, was to help “kids eat right and get active, so that they can grow up healthy and strong.”

Mrs. Obama used the analogy that caring for a garden was similar to caring for the human body, citing you wouldn’t use soda to water it.

The group also witness how a bicycle powered hose could combine exercise and gardening. Rainwater was collected and the bike is then ridden by students to push the water onto the land.

When Michelle got on the bike to water the garden, Irvine said, “We have one of the fittest first ladies in the history of America and she’s talking the talk and walking the walk.”

A clip from the show can be viewed below.

Dallas

The characters of TNT’s revival of the 20-year old CBS television series Dallas have finally returned to screen.

A lot has changed since the 80s and 90s. People are eating better. Being fuel efficient. And there’s no reason why J.R. Ewing (Larry Hagman) and his brother Bobby (Patrick Duffy), his son John Ross (Josh Henderson) and his cousin Christopher (Jesse Metcalfe) should be doing anything different.

Bobby’s adopted son has even established an alternative fuel company.

Boris Johnson and Jon Stewart discussed New York’s Mayor Bloombergs proposed ban on soda on a recent episode of The Daily Show.

Sure, soda is scandalous–it’s full of high-fructose corn syrup, empty calories and preservatives–but how does it’s illicitness compare, ounce per ounce, with the same serving of marijuana?

Using glasses filled with both, ahem, “products,” Johnson and Stewart joke that the fine for a restaurant serving a tall glass of “Coke,” (the legal kind) would be greater than a glass of the illegal plant.

Is this Big Brother looking after New Yorkers or just another attempt to curtail choice and freedom?

“Your Sister’s Sister” Takes On Vegan Pancakes (Video)

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, June 7th, 2012 in Film & TV, Food & Drink, Videos.

Your Sister's Sister

Two half-sisters, played by Emilie Blunt and Rosemarie DeWitt, are accidentally united when they show up at the family’s secluded cabin at the same time for a retreat.

Nothing celebrates family more than vegan pancakes and the sisters are joined by friend who offers to taste test some of fluffy goodness cooked up by Blunt’s character.

Adjectives like “terrible” and “challenged” are used.

But hopefully at least the family reunion gets better.

Your Sister’s Sister debuts in select theatres on June 15. Watch the clip below.
