Joan Jett Unveils New PETA Pro-Vegetarian Ad

Recently nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame musician Joan Jett took some time to unveil an ad for a cause she loves as much as rock and roll.

“I am Joan Jett and I am a vegetarian,” features the former Runaways Jett posed in traditional black rocker attire next to the message about how vegetarianism benefits man, animals and the earth.

Chrissie Hynde

Chrissie Hynde stepped into international veggie burger paradise when she made a stop at Singapore’s VeganBurg. The all-vegan restaurant recently celebrated it’s 4th outlet in the South-East Asian city-state.

After her Singapore Grand Prix performance, Chrissie fuel up on the Cracked Pepper Mayo burger.

“I’ve toured around the world with my band and always looking for the perfect burger. I finally found it at VeganBurg!” Chrissie said.

Missy Higgins Talks Vegetarian Difficulties On The Road

Missy Higgins has released another album, The Ol’ Razzle Dazzle, which she is currently on tour promoting.

Although the singer-songwriter has been very active in animal rights, due to her schedule, it’s impossible to keep any right now, but at home in Australia there’s a cat waiting for her in case she does get a break.

“I have a cat that lives with my parents. I would really, really love to have animals but I travel too much,” Higgins told Pollstar.

Lady Gaga Meat Dress Born This Way Tour

Lady Gaga‘s meat dress will be preserved a little longer than beef is in your stomach at the “Women Who Rock: Vision, Passion, Power” exhibit at the National Museum of Women and Arts.

The exhibit is meant to highlight women in rock music who’ve also struck the rights cords in humanitarian issues, such as women’s rights.

The event is a nice tribute to female rockers, but while we’re on the subject of  being pro-woman, it’s  best to touch on the fact that a diet consisting of what Gaga has worn on several occasions is about as far backwards as blocking ladies from voting.

Russell Simmons Writes To Lady Gaga On Her Fur Habits

Russell Simmons has written a letter to Lady Gaga in response to an ad promoting Robert Rodriguez’ Machete Kills film in which she is draped in a wolf carcass.

In the letter, Simmons not only addresses the issue of Gaga wearing fur, but the feud between her and PETA, emphasizing that while he supports the group, his criticism is a that of “gentler” kind than the animal rights organization.

“I respectfully request you to ensure that vegan meals are available to Ms. Alekhina – and all prisoners. Regardless of the trial and its outcome, I’m sure you can agree that everyone has the right to show compassion and refrain from harming animals by being vegan.”

Alicia Silverstone, in a letter to Russia’s Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, asking that Pussy Riot band member Maria Alekhina be given the vegan food she requested. Alekhina has spent several months in jail after being charged with “hooliganism,” in an act involving a controversial performance at a church. The musician has complained of several medical complications that have resulted from the inadequate nutrition the jail has provided in its meals.

As if wearing meat wasn’t enough. Lady Gaga wears the flesh AND skin of the animals.

The Born This Way singer has been spotted wearing fur on several occasions, including a a promotional poster for Robert Rodriguez’ Machete Kills film in which she is draped in a wolf carcass. PETA’s vice president Dan Matthews took the time to post a statement about it on the animal rights group’s website.
